YouTube not working via VLC/Ubustream

I finally got ubustream installed, downloaded rss feeds for some youtube videos, but it just won't launch. I get some wierd error from VLC when I launch externally. When I try to time shift it, it says buffering for a few seconds and then nothing happens.
Help!

Ok, it looks like nothing on VLC works. I thought it was just YouTube videos, but nothing will pull up. VLC just says it can open up stream. I'm really out of ideas on this one..

I revisited this today and pretty much if it's tied to VLC, nothing works. I get the VLC cone and nothing happens. When I get out I sometimes get an error, other times nothing. I did the RTSP over TCP too.

I don't have any visible crash (it may be crashing and showing up in a log somewhere though). It just doesn't do anything. I get a white screen with that orange cone and it just stays there until I exit out by hitting the back button.
I know many swear by VLC, but I'm not impressed so far since it doesn't work for me.
