I've just done a clean install of the latest gbpvr on a new clean updated WinXP MCE machine with a Nova-t (90002) and a Nova 500 installed.

The config seems to go okay (with the Nova-t tuning in and me selecting which channels to enable) until it gets to the point where the EPG data gets updated. The update only takes about 3 seconds which clearly isn't enough time to read all the DVB EPG data from the card, and the EPG remains unpopulated.

the Config.exe.log shows the following error:

2008-03-12 09:05:54.734 ERROR [6] Unexpected failed in DvbEpgReader.LoadChannels(): System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at NativeUtilities.BDARecorder.RenderToDVRMSMux(Int32 videoPID, Int32 audioPID, IBaseFilter* demuxFilter, Char* pszFilename)
at NativeUtilities.BDARecorder.StartRecording(String cardType, Int32 board, String filename, IntPtr hwnd, ChannelTuning channelTuning, Int32 lnbLOF1, Int32 lnbSwitch, Int32 lnbLOF2, Int32 diseqc, Boolean powered, Boolean previewMode)
at NativeUtilities.BDARecorder.StartRecording(String cardType, Int32 board, String filename, IntPtr hwnd, ChannelTuning channelTuning, Int32 lnbLOF1, Int32 lnbSwitch, Int32 lnbLOF2, Int32 diseqc, Boolean powered)
at GBPVR.Backend.Common.DvbEpgReader.LoadChannels(IEpgUpdateProgressCallback callback)

The complete config.exe.log is attached.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Have you tried Config.exe --> Capture Sources --> Edit --> Settings (for Recording Source) --> BDA Advanced Settings and then ticking one or other or both of the Ignore PMT CRC ... options?

Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestion, but I just tried and it makes no difference. The software just doesn't pull any DVB EPG data from the card.

I had the same setup using ShowShifter up until yesterday and the EPG data worked yesterday. It also works using Hauppauge's EPG sotware. So, I know the hardware is fine, the drivers are installed and the data is there.

I just don't understand what the error message means.

Thanks

My next step would be to delete all of the Captue Sources and add them again.

I suggest that you stop and start Config.exe after each step. For example, delete one source then click OK, OK, ... until Config.exe ends. Then go back in and delete the next Capture Source and so on.

I would repeat the stop and start of Config.exe as I re-add each capture source.

Or you could wait for a couple of hours until the GBPVR Font of Wisdom wakes up and solves the problem in an instant.

Good Luck

Check which directory you have your recordings & live tv directories set to in the config app. Make sure these directories exist. If they do, then reproduce the problem and zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log files and I'll take a look.

doing a fresh install (after uninstalling and deleting the gbpvr folder) gave the same problem if I just use one TV source.

I'll do a clean install later, document everything I've done (in case I'm making a mistake somewhere) then post the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log.

Thanks to both of you.

Thanks,

It was the recordings & live tv directories. I set the paths to the correct ones and everything is fine.

I hadn't realised they needed setting first. Was this something I missed or was it just assumed that users would not need to as they are initially set to C:\Temp?

My XP installation is not on C: so there was no "Temp" folder there and GBPVR doesn't try to create one.

Thanks agian.
