Has anybody tried one of these? I see a lot of good deals on them, but are they even worth that?

The AVS Forum (http://www.avsforum.com/) is usually a good source of info on A/V hardware. Last time I looked there seemed to be pretty favorable comments about the Vizio TVs. That was about a year ago when I was looking.

The only problem with the AVS Forums is there's sometimes too much info...some of the threads go on and on and on and on, ad infinitum...

I'm assuming you mean from costco? (since I haven't seen them sold anywhere else..)

If so, I wouldn't hesitate just based on costco's return/warranty policy. They've recently changed the actual return policy to 90 days on TV's and computers (not computer lcd's and accessories though).. probably from all of the thieves taking advantage of the policy..

However, the costco warranty is 2 years - which is fine with me. From what I hear, most of the time they just replace it anyway... basically, before you could take the tv back 1.5 years later and simply return it for no reason... now you'd have to have a reason (broken)

I love Costco...

I have two Vizio's 20 LCD and 42 Plasma. I'm very satisfied with them, both purchased from Costco. I did replaced the 20 inch, it started having a mind of its own after 3-4 weeks. It kept searching/surfing channels on its own. No problem replacing it at Costco. I still think they are a good buy and keeping my savings account intacted.Big Grin

You can't beat the value of the Vizio. Get the ones from Costco. The ones at Walmart are not the same.

Vizio is generally considered one of the better if not best "cheap" TVs. I haven't looked lately, but they probably share their panels with other brands like many LCD monitors do anyway, so often you're getting pretty much the same thing with a different name on it. Maybe not, though. I am speculating based on PC monitors. Might be something to research if it interests you.

Looked at the LCDs at two Walmarts last week. For the most part, blah. And I mean, blah. Then again, I also went to higher-end places, and most LCDs are simply lacking. CRTs may not move as easily, but they sure look better.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

I was looking at LCD TV's at Walmart, Sam's Club (walmart), BJ's wholesale, Best buy & Circuit City.

I can say without a doubt that every one of these places were sending a crappy analog signal to each HDTV.

They all looked like crap to me.

I don't know how they sell HDTV's when they arn't even showing an HD signal in the show room.

Even Best Buy and Circuit City were? I suppose that makes sense since I often read of how shopping at Best Buy or CC are such horrible experiences, but the ones around me I've rarely had a problem at so maybe it's an overall store thing of some being good and others not so good.

Mine generally loop HD Transformers and Batman Begins and some ballroom dancing.

Circuit city had this 55" LCD & I think they were playing an info-mercial.
I'm not in the market for a HDTV yet.

I just like to look every once in a while & I was just shocked at the signal they were sending to it.

A local TV installer worked out a "setup for referrals" deal at my local BJ's Warehouse. All the Display HDTVs are being fed an HD signal and they look pretty good. Even after the signal splitting who know how many times. I've noticed the Sonys look fantastic followed by Sharp and Phillips. Of the "cheap" HDTVs the Vizios definitely look to be the best in PQ. The Olevias not so much.
P4-1.6Ghz, 512MB RAM, 200GB dedicated PVR drive, 80GB OS and Archive drive, nVidia FX5200 and 2 x Hauppauge PVR-150.
