Hi,

i don´t know if this already possible by any means and only didn´t figure it out:
I would love to have the functionality of the actual MyVideos (thanks again reven!Wink plugin that allows you to dowload movie poster and info from IMDB for ready recorded (and archived) movies in the TVGuide. So before recording something you could download this information. As far as I understand the MyVideos plugin uses titel information stored in mydatabase.xml to retrieve IMDB data. As the TVGuide information is also stored in an xml it should somehow be possible, to do the same here?

Probably something for jrocks Guide2J...

Possible?

i think what he wants is when you click on a show in the tvguide that it shows a poster on one side for the show. Reven and Jeff have some code for this.

my videos no longer uses xml for this, it uses a database. there are two ways i can think of doing this, if jorm adding code to xrecord to do this for recordings. or if i made a little program in postprocessing.bat to download the information, the only problem there is, i dont know if i can get the normal EPG information, so if i cant find any description on imdb.com there wont be any description.

I would like to use the same logic as everyone else.  I have a little class that downloads them and trys to do a best guess to find it.  a little app would probably be pretty good.  Do I need the video archiver or my videos to get the database?

jorm i can provide you the class i use for all of my database stuff in my videos. me and jeff use two different databases, i would also probably have to give you updated imdb code for the cast, director, writer, tagline etc.

It looks like the right people are on it now.

It seems you guys don´t need further clarification on what I am thinking of.

As MyVideos uses a database vs. XML it would be best to extract the proper information to the database for the internet search. It would then also readily available ones you decide to actually record that show/movie.

Just some brainstorming/dreaming of a complete no-programming-skills guy... [Image: biggrin.gif]

can you give me a little clarification here? i think that you would first have to decide to record a movie/show then it would look up the info, not vice versa (otherwise every single show in the EPG would have to be looked up, database would get huge, and well looking up that much would take forever and a day).

Hey reven:

in the beginning I was thinking of the following:
- you browse the TVGuide
- you find an interesting movie
- you select it
- in addition to the existing buttons (Exit - Quick Record - Record) you have a new button called Info or Lookup
- you press it and the IMDB ist questioned - the info is diplayed - then you decide to record or not.

If that is not possible or very difficult/time consuming as the TVGuide information would have to transfered to the database in just the moment of selecting Lookup I could also think of the following way:
- you select the movie from the TVGuide
- you select Record
- the information is transfered to the db and by going to pending recordings you would have the possibility to start the Lookup.
- If you then decide you don´t want to record, you can still deleted/cancel the recording

Bottomline is: I would lave to be able to lookup poster and info BEFORE actually recording something to decide, if I like it or not...

Probably I am asking to much and should simply record everything I kind a like and then delete later if I dont want to see it.

My final dream would be if the TVGuide could include or lookup information on actors or directors so you could one day run an automated search on your favorite actors and GBPVR would just record the movie without me doing anything.... but I think now I am really getting carried away...

ok the only problem there is that lookups arent always 100% and often with tv stuff you cant lookup the info, plus you have to decide which info to keep from the EPG and which info to replace with the lookup info.
