Last night I tried recording my first show containing commercials. To my surprise, I woke up, the file was transcoded (to XviD) but there were still commercials.

I checked my config.exe and found that "use comskip.exe" was selected in processing. I did a search of my pc and I could not find a file called comskip.exe.

I would like to have my pc remove the commercials and than convert to xvid but I'm not sure how to do this.

I checked the wiki and there a bunch of different batch files for processing and post-processing but they all talk about comskip and comclean and I'm not sure what these are or how to use 'em.

Now I'm not above fast forewarding my recordings, but It would be nice to get this thing up and running the way it's supposed to.

Thanks for all the help.

If I understand it correctly, ComSkip does not alter the recorded file. It simply creates a text file with markers indicating where the commercials are. GB-PVR then uses this info to skip around in the file.
Not sure if it will skip in an XviD file, or if the markers created in ComSkip would be valid after the transcoding.
check http://tinyurl.com/32a4nl and http://tinyurl.com/2n4v3w for more info.

GBPVR does use the comskip info for XviD files as well. Are you sure you installed comskip as it is a separate package from GBPVR. It can be found on the wiki or on the authors homepage http://www.kaashoek.com/files/.
