For a long time I had a combined fileserver/mail server/GBPVR recorder dual TV150 with UPnP server running and watching a recordings and all other media through UPnP media player (hence I needed comskip/comclean to get rid of the commercials because I could not reliable skip with the UPnP media player)
Then I decided to split things All the sever stuff is now on a low power PC running 24/7 (total on power consumption including 3 hard drives and extra fans 50 Watts)
I moved GBPVR to a dedicated media center PC (see sig). When watched I delete (or move to the file/media server). I also play music, photo's and weather on the media center PC. The media center PC goes to 5 watt standby after not being used for 5 minutes. There a many more PC's and laptops being used in the house. All fixed PC's on a 100MBit wired network, all laptops wireless.
P4 3GHz 1GB, 250GB, nVidia dualTV, GBPVR 1.3.11, XP

I liked what Anthony has said the most. (sorry everyone else!) I just really don't need all the setup I'm operating right now, and anything I use in the future will stream it from my computer, and I won't even be using the Live TV function. I wonder if my Xbox 360 will stream video.....hmmmm.

Currently running two tuners in the box I have now, so if somebody is looking for a Hauppauge 1600 let me know (I don't have any digital content to record right now...)

Dedicated PVR here too. For shows we "might want to watch", they get recorded on one of the clients thru the HDHR.
Just have to have a dedicated box or i'll probably shut it down/reboot while it's recording. *blush*

I was trying to tell a buddy of mine how my home network was setup and since i had been using Visio at work, just thru together a diagram for him. It's in the link of my sig if you're interested.

I had an "all in one" system but decided to move the main server to the living room to also be the client for HD playback. I have a dedicated DishNetwork 322 in the office and didn't want to run all of the cables across the house, so I threw my PVR150's into an old 1 Ghz celeron system and just record the satellite shows. It actually records it to my main server over the network.

Off subject, but how do you like the HD Homerun? I'm getting rid of my Hauppauge 1600 with no QAM support, and keeping my 150 for now. I was looking at the HDHomerun when the prices go down a bit (and I get my basement done). Hear that they don't even need to be near your computer, just on your network somewhere... I have been just tinkering and my wife got made at me the other day because I sold my server. She says I tinker too much... Smile But when the basement gets done, I think I'll keep the 150 and maybe get a HD setup rolling...

Any suggestions or insight on where the HD market is going to go with GBPVR. Are we going to see a higher resolution display and menus for the GBPVR? I'm really thinking when HD gets on the ground running, its going to be common place sooner than later.

GB-PVR already uses vector graphics to display its menus etc in PVRX2.exe, so its graphics automatically give the best picture possible on whatever resolution the user is running. ie, someone running the UI at 1920x1080 will get a much sharper more detailed UI than someone running a standard definition resolutions. This major redesign was done last year because of number of people starting to own high definition TV panels.

The old GBPVR.exe UI was designed for standard resolution screens, and simply stretched to fill the screen. Its fonts looked like crap on a screen running 1920x1080.

Awesome deal sub! Just a questions, do you have any other hobbies besides GBPVR? Big Grin Your always on here giving all sorts of support. Your better than most of the main stream support phone calls I've had (Dell, Best Buy, etc...).

I really like the HDHomeRun. The price looks high at first until you take into consideration that it can be put anywhere (I have mine in my basement), can be used with any computer on the network, and has dual tuners.

I hear my cable company is finally supposed to step into the digital age, so I hope to try out the QAM capabilities sometime soon.
