sub: Would it be difficult to add to GBPVR a call to a batch file whenever a recording commences, in much the same way that PostProcessing.bat is called everytime a recording ends?  The only parameter that needed to be passed would be the name of the file being written to, just like PostProcessing.bat currently does.

I have several features in mind that would become feasible: audible alert that recording has commenced (or is on-going); free disk space alert if projected file size was too large for remaining disk space; and probably a few others too.  I'm sure there are at least a few people with external LED's that could be lit when recording begins and turned off when recording ends, too.

Keep up the great work - I welcome the opportunity to write some more stand-alone utilities for this great software!

Is that right?  If comskip is launched when the recording commences, it will actually continue to process throughout the recording?  If so, this means: comskip results will be ready shortly after recording ends (this can be significant for a two hour movie); and the load placed on the PC by comskip should be much less because its processing is spread out over the duration of the recording, rather than compressed to the five/ten/twenty minutes it takes after recording ends.

I was planning on writing a utility to add to PostProcessing.bat that would decide whether to run comskip based on what channel the recording was made - it would not even bother to run comskip if the channel were on a list of "commercial free" stations that the user specified.  I suppose it would work just as well if comskip launched from a PreProcessing.bat file...

The latest versions of comskip actually has support for this so that you can start watching the show before it has ended, and use the benefits from comskip. This would be really nice if we could use in GBPVR.
I'm not always right
