Does anyone know if this decoder can do hardware acceleration (DXVA)?

Yes, the Cyberlink H.264 decoder supports DXVA.

Looks good. It seems to be HA'ing like a BEAST on my 780g system. I haven't tried it within GB-PVR (which is always the trick). Outside of it, I'm getting like 5% CPU utilization where it used to be like 60% of both cores for a 720p movie! Big Grin

Very nice!

I got them off of the Cyberlink 8 trial since they were newer. I installed 8, went to the common\filter section and copied these files to a temp area:

CL264dec.ax
264be.dll
264dmmx.dll
264sse2.dll
264sse3.dll
264sse.dll
pThreadVC2.dll

By the way, when I installed the cyberlink 8 trial, it did NOT install h264 for some reason even though it had the correct filters in their filter directory.

Ok, next I uninstalled cyberlink 8. I then copied the aforementioned files to windows\system32. Opened a dos prompt, cd \windows\system 32. Then I did a regsvr32 CL264dec.ax and VOILA registered!

I then added the codec to the preferred h264 codecs in gbpvr config.xml as suggested like 2 pages ago in this post.

You could optionally play around with the merit values from within a program like Gpsot, but there's no need if you're only going to be using GB-PVR in the system or if this is the ONLY h264 codec you've ever installed.

I might be wrong but I think the h.264 decoder setting is only for .ts files.
I am surprised that doing software h264 used so much of both of your cores, am able to play back 720p in software using only about 70% on a single core Turion.
But when using hardware its like 5% which is so nice.

It may not be cooperating in GB-PVR due to the extension. However, using DXVACHecker.exe program, I play the Juno.mkv or I am Legend.mkv (which are H264 720p) and it will run at like 5%. Also, when I build a custom graph filter in graphedit, it plays them as well. I might start setting the "system default" to what I want, and picking system default in GB-PVR. The reason I can't get HA in GBPVR but I can outside of it could be due to extensions.

bogyver- Yep, that's how much it's using. That's (I think) using CoreAVC in software decode from like 2 months ago.

If I choose the Cyberlink audio decoder (I have Powerdvd8) I cannot choose S/PDIF out in settings? Why? Inside Powerdvd configuration I can set S/PDIF without problems.

Are you referring to another filter? This is the only one I can find in the GB-PVR config drop list...

The Cyberlink Audio Decoder supplied with PowerDVD 7.x and 8.x has been seriously knobbled by Cyberlink. It is only usable for simple stereo audio in third party applications.

I was referring to this filter. As I mentioned above, its not a great filter to use outside of PowerDVD, but it is one of the few that handles New Zealand's AAC LATM audio, so still useful for some GB-PVR users.

Ok, I am with you now. Sweden, as I live in, does not use this encoding, but Norway does I think. (Neighbour country that also has chosen mpeg4 from start for their national DVB-T. Good for them Smile )

Btw, it does not seem possible to get the PowerDVD8 H264 filter in GB-PVR. Haven't looked into this much but I suspect the filter is called something other than the old on Powerdvd7, and GB-PVR has a hardcoded selection that does not currently allow this filter?

You can get it show up by adding 'CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8)' in the <SupportedDecoders> setting in config.xml.
