I have been working with Xrecord through Scheduler and it is awesome - kudos to the programmers.

Two questions -

1. I would like to be able to set this up to record all instances of Carnivale on HBO. Problem is that I do not want it to record the ones on HBO Latin. My problem is that I cannot remove that channel from the lineup. I have tried through config, throgh the ZAP2it site, and nothing will remove it. How can I remove a channel as eligible, or, tell Xrecord to record all instances, except a certain channel (meaning, record by exclusion rather than inclusion).

2. How can I stop Xrecord from scheduling duplicate recordings. For instance, if Carnivale is aired 4 times a week with the same episode, Xrecord picks up all four. Is this what "duplicates-keep" is for? If I decide not to keep duplicates, will Xrecord know to keep going through the airings of Carnivale until it finds an open spot of time when I am not recording something?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you know the channel number that you want it to record on, you can specify a Channel to go along with your search. I belive currently you are limited to just specifying one Channel, if you want it to record the same episode on Multiple channels but skip only the one channel, then you need to setup a recording for each of the channels you want it to record on.

Just set them up as different recordings. The advantage to this is that you can also add a time restriction so that it only looks for the show on the other channels at certain times. This way you can make sure other shows get recorded. I do this for repeats of the West Wing. I have normal Wednesday recordings setup for 9pm on Wednesdays, but repeats of Bravo's reruns, to only record everyday between 11:00am and 10pm.

In the PriorityRecordings.xml file, change DuplicatesAllowed in the Config section to be NO. This should tell XRecord that duplicates aren't to be scheduled. The CDK Scheduler should look for the open spot if there is a conflict with an existing recording.

You should be able to set whether to have it keep duplicates or not on a per recording basis.

Jorm or Jrock will correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

Thanks King. On the answer to the first question, I would much rather just exclude the channel altogether. Is there any way to do this?

You might be able to exclude the channel through the GBPVR Config utility.

1. Start the GBPVR Config.
2. Go to the Channels tab.
3. Find the Channel you don't want to be used anymore, and unclick the Favorites check mark for that channel.

That should eliminate the channel all together, even though Zap2It will still bring it down.

That is the only way I can figure to eliminate it.

King, thanks I did try that and the channels are still present. There has to be a way to permanantly remove channels from your lineup. Can anyone else chime in?

Hmmm...you should be able to do a custom channel lineup on Zap2It's site so that you can get only the channels you want. I haven't tried this, but I'm sure somebody else has.

Also, you might want to post in the CDK Scheduler thread, a request for Jrock to add an Exclude channel option for a recording.
