I am trying to set up my PCH and I am following the mvpmcx2 Installation and Survival Guide. I can see my HTPC and play videos, music and pictures. I got to Part B of the guide, testing Telnet, but I am at a loss on how to open telnet.html from the PCH. Is there any hope for a novice at this?

Telnet.hml should show up when you select the rightmost icon on the PCH which is I guess a web page with an arrow.

Thanks,

When I do that I get a statement that the "request can not be processed". The PCH is hard wired to a LAN with a HTPC named hometheater. I have a sub-folder named MVPMC in that machines PUBLIC folder. I downloaded the sample scripts and saved the extracted files in the mvpmc folder. I edited telnet.html to replace EditMe with hometheater:public which is what I see on the Media Source page. telnet now reads:
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20HOMETHEATER:Public:mvpmc/script.cgi">Telnetd</a>
<BR>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20HOMETHEATER:Public:mvpmc/gbpvr.cgi">GB-PVR</a>.

I edited script.cgi with the IP address of the PCH, changed the username=root, and ,ro to ,rw (I'm using Vista 32 bit).

Any thoughts on where I went wrong?

Thanks

mvpmc should be the name of the share instead of public.

Just so that I'm clear should the url be smb: //hometheater/public/mvpmc in my case?

Thanks

No. You need to create a share called mvpmc the same way you created a share called public. If you really don't know how to do this you will have to modify the scripts to use public instead.

Sorry to be so thick but here is what I did:

I created a directory on the HTPC (named HOMETHEATER) C:\MVPMC and copied the scripts to it. I then made that folder a shared folder on the network. I browsed to the MVPMC folder on the PCH in Setup>Network Share page and came up with a url of smb://hometheater/mvpmc. I then edited telnet.html to read:

<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20HOMETHEATER:mvpmc/script.cgi">Telnetd</a>
<BR>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20HOMETHEATER:mvpmc/gbpvr.cgi">GB-PVR</a>

I then went to the media source page of PCH and when I selected hometheater:mvpmc I received a message "NO CONTENT FOUND ON SERVER". What went wrong this time?

That will be better once it work, now the guest share is the problem. Since you seem to be starting with screen shot I posted here http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=11

maybe follow on and see if that thread helps.

Martin thanks for your help. I've been away for a few daysand not dealing with this bug but it seems that the problem is in the way I set up the share as I can't see it from another computer. So I need to work on that next.
