Sub,

I was wondering if it was possible to 'weight' recordings so in a conflict situation the weight recording wins!.

eg

Saturday I missed Dr Who because my daughter (bless her) was recording Charlie and Lola which started 5 minutes before Dr Who was due. Currently the logic says, record Charlie and Lola and mark Dr Who as conflict.

What I'd like is

Charlie and Lola 18:10-18:40 Nick TV (normal)
DR Who 18:15-19:00 BBC 1 (Must Record)

would result in

Charlie and Lola in conflict... and Dr Who recording....

Does this logic make sense to you and is it possible to code ?

I know more tuners whould help but I'm a hardware constained at the mo...

Its a bit of a hidden feature, but you can already set the priority of recordings on the 'recurring' list of the Recordings screen. With a season recording item selected, press FF/RW raise lower the priority. Further up the list means a higher priority.

Something similar popped up on here recently and with a similar reply
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=34314

I can say it works perfectly and with some judicious tweaking, I now have my "must haves" at the top of the list for highest priority and it certainly seems to behave as suggested.

thanks.

This is why I love GBPVR..... everything in the box....
Thanks Sub !

Does this priority (higher up in the list) also take into account the post-padding on a recording? Until reading this, I had my NASCAR recording at the bottom of my recurring list but I also have 1 hour of post-padding on my NASCAR recordings because the race ALWAYS goes into extra time. So say, for example, a NASCAR race was scheduled from 6pm-10pm and I tacked on an extra hour to have it record to 11pm. If another recording is scheduled to start recording at 10pm, will the post-padding of the NASCAR recording stop that 10pm program from recording, or will my NASCAR recording end at 10pm regardless? Up until now, I've had to check out the scheduled recordings before the NASCAR race is recorded and delete any shows that would be recording during the extra hour of post-padding.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think, by default, padding is sacrificed for back to back recordings.
I have a feeling there is a config.xml option to change this.

hmmmm.... Have a look for "honour" and "padding" in config.xml

Thanks for the tip Martin, but I really want to be able to "honour" the padding only for 1 particular recording, not everything (ie: everything else has the default 2 minutes padding)

It certainly shouldn't be so hidden. It is what I was looking for. This feature deserves its own page on the wiki.

Thanks.

I need to experiment more but I installed yesterday and tried to change the priorities and it wouldn't move. Anyone else ever have this problem.

Yes, did you import your recordings?

If so, you need to get SQLiteSpy and follow these steps:
1. Backup your gbpvr.db3 (just in case!)
2. Stop the GBPVR recording service and open your gbpvr.db3 in SQLiteSpy
3. Open the recording schedule table (main -> Tables -> RECORDING_SCHEDULE) This is a listing of all your scheduled recordings, and all recordings saved within GBPVR.
4. Find your scheduled recordings and you'll notice the "Priority" column is blank. What you need to do is fill in the Priority cell for each recording, starting with 0, and not duplicating any of them. You can edit the cell in SQLiteSpy with the F2 button.
5. Exit SQLiteSpy and restart the recording service.
6. Start GBPVR, and your recordings can now be prioritized with the FF/REW buttons.

Let me know if you have any problems.
