Hi,

My rotator controller is a Programmable Channel Master 9521A with remote.
I programmed the controller that when the number 58 is entered, to rotate to 310 degrees.

I tried setting haupblast in Edit recording source and holding the ir blaster that came with my hauppauge 1600 hvr to the channel master receiver.
From the Guide I choose the digital channel that was 58 (fox detroit) but nothing happened.

What am I missing?

hmm,you programmed it to move when58 is entered with what? the signal the blaster sends out or 9521a remote?
you'd have to be able to blast something with the haup blaster that the channel master can understand...[learn the haup. blasted keys..]
what box do you have haup blaster set to blast to?
i don't think that CM controller is built into the haup cmd set, so if the chann master can't learn or recieve codes that the blaster can send out then it won't work...

you can try it from cmd line also to test..
it might be the digital signal nature? [weird channel numbers]
try "haupbast 58" from cmd line first..

also, not sure if blasting is active for ota source..

The missing piece of the puzzle is you probably didn't configure your IR Blaster to transmit Channel Master codes. I'm not even sure if it's supported or not, but you can check. If you can get that setup, then you would just run HaupBlast.exe as your channel changer and it should be fine.

Thanks to both.

Sub, is blasting active for OTA source?

pBS, when 58 is entered by GBPVR. i set the digital recording source to use haupblast.exe, and told it not to pad the digits. I then programmed my CM receiver (the thing that moves the antenna) that when 58 is entered, move the antenna to 320 degrees. The CM 9537 programmable controller manual states that it will also support Pioneer Cable Box (HH1) or Pioneer CD Player (HH2) codes, and most Direct TV and Dish Network remotes will work too. With so many options this must be possible. you are right I will look for support information on haupblast.exe and see what can be done.

Sgilani, exactly. I will research.

This would be great, because as i and others in my household change the channel, the antenna will rotate to where it needs to be. Perfect, because hopefully (maybe?) my scheduled recorded shows will not be missed because the antenna is pointed in the wrong direction.

i think the point you are missing is
that to rotate it you have to think like this
when you press 58 on your huappauge remote it picks up your other remote and presses the the number 58 on there (or what ever the remote button would be)
at the moment form what i can understand you are just sending hauppauge code this is like speaking french to someone that only speaks english
you need a translator so then they can talk to each other

so you need to learn the code from your rotating remote
then save that code (somehow get hauapauge to learn it )
and when you press the 58 this is mimicked by the hauppauge sender and the rotator will rotate

You can specify a channel changer (incl haupblast.exe etc) with any type of capture source including an OTA one. Itll log some messages in the log each time it calls the executable you've specified.

Je comprends ce que vous dites. Maintenant je dois juste figurer dehors comment le faire. J'expérimenterai. Merci.

Whoops, sorry Smile

I understand what you are saying. Now I just need to figure out how to do it. I will experiment. Thanks.

This may be easier to investigate other 3rd party IR blasters and see if they are compatible. As long as they have command line ability I should be good to go. But i will fully test the Haupblast.exe first.

Thanks much.

should be no problem. as long as you can find a commmon remote code that both haupblast can send out,and that channel master can understand..
so just find a common remote type and set both...Big Grin
tho i think you've already got that figured..Smile

I looked for docs on haupblast.exe (i can't run haupblast.exe /?) until i get home. is there a reference table to what haupblast can emulate? If not, how do people use this util? just pure luck? I could use some luck. lol

also, i emailed HIP support and asked if they would be able to use the Hauppauge IR receiver to receive a command then blast it out the Hauppauge blaster. They said no. I would have run into access issues anyway, because the device is in use with IR.exe etc...
