Well if you weren't running as administrator you might have unzipped them to

C:\Users\your name here\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\System32\

I'm pretty sure AppData is there for all Vista user accounts.

Logging in as "Administrator" does not mean that you have full administrative privileges in Vista. That is why there is a "Run as administrator" option when you right mouse click something. Here is some reading for you:
http://www.maximumpcguides.com/windows-v...explained/

Also see the "More Information on UAC" links at the bottom of that page.

well i just tested it on the only vista machine in my house (mrs laptop)
and it worked
uac was turned off
and it only has the one user account on it that is the administrator

if you go into users what users are there and exactly what are they called and what rights do they have

buggered if i know whats going wrong im sure its something simple either you are not typing the exact name of the file or it has been renamed along the way
or its corupt from what ever it was zipped with or unzipped
the file i told you to download didnt need to be unzipped
but you couldnt even get that right so dont think there is much hope Smile

Some more info about what martin is saying.

Vista by default protects files in "c:\program files" or "c:\windows". If a user tries to write file into these directories then Vista performs some magic, and instead writes the data to a directory under "c:\users\<account>\appdata\local\virtual store". The "appdata" directory is hidden, but you can get to it if you type in the directory.

AppData is a hidden system folder. You will not see it if you did not set Windows to show hidden and system folders.

Edit: sub beats me to it yet again.

If UAC is off so are all bets. However I tested a theory and sure enough as soon as I elevated Task Manager's rights by telling it to show processes from all users, the shell commands do run as administrator.
