I'm not sure if this helps the PVR-350 poster, but I'm going to begin work shortly on an encoder plugin. My main purpose is to take the relatively large MPEG-2 files and convert to some MPEG-4 based codec like DivX or XviD (likely the latter, since it is open source). This way an entire recorded season of something will be smaller for archival purposes. I'm sure that once I have something written I can hopefully support other codecs, but I'll have to cross that bridge when I get there.

the 350 and xvid issue should be left up to sub, so it doesnt only work in one plugin, but across the board.

it shouldnt be that hard to do, there are a few on fly fly deocders/encoders (err what are they called?) that gbpvr could use, when any plugin tries to play non mpeg files. the only thing is, would sub include freeware issues with gbpvr, or even use them, for legal reasons, even thou they are free??? also you have to worry about how much power it takes to do this. if anyone finds a free one that can do it fair quickly with say only 1.6ghz of power, hopefully sub will think about adding it. if he doesnt, ill add it to my videos. but i feel it should still be left to sub.

That sounds cool, especial if it does it both ways (divx/xvid -> mpeg2). My current setup with a 1ghz via cpu won't be able to do real time transcoding, so a plugin that can do it it in the background would be great

yeah, I just thought he sub really didn't want to make any more product specific code, but it would be cool if it was included at some point.

My system is still to slow to do it on the fly, but it would be nice to have the option if a faster computer turned up on my desk by magic

i would really love someone to pick up where codemonkey left off with the caller id plugin. most of the base work is done, but its needs to become skinnable, and a few things updated. would be nice to display
- photo (of person calling)
- name
- the phone number
- time

i know codemonkey had a few issues with gbpvr not fully supporting what he wanted to do, but those issues may be fixed now.

anyone want to pick up this project?

I'd really like somebody to pick up the jukebox plugin and sort some of its odd little bugs, somebody did say they had made a few changes to it, but they never posted the code.

Its a great plugin which just needs a bit of final polishing

I did some changes to it in the past but I'm really out of my depth when it comes to the skinning features etc

XRecord has been supporting transcoding of divx files via mvp for some time using the method you select a show click transcode and then play becomes active. You can then deleted the transcoded item.
