Use HTTP for media streamers

Would it be possible to run gbpvr on streamers (PCH, etc.) via HTTP? I use Swisscenter that is HTTP/PHP driven and it runs fast/flawless on my PCH. It doesn't have the recording feature which is huge for me. I was wondering if it is possible to create a plugin similar to the EWA plugin that would bring the complete functionality of gbpvr over HTTP. Not only would this work for the PCH, but all web enabled media streamers. I'm not a programmer so I don't know how this would be done with gbpvr. What do you think?

I guess I can answer that by saying why don't you ask the SwissCenter guys to right plugins for GB-PVR?

GB-PVR already does all its media streaming to the PCH using HTTP. There shouldnt be any difference in the streaming between Swisscenter and GB-PVR.

The UI is obviously a different matter, but I prefer the current remote UI capability that GB-PVR has over HTML based UIs. All the recording/scheduling functionality is available in the web API though, so there is nothing to stop someone that wants it from developing an HTML based UI for using these features from GBPVR. I have no plans to do that myself though.

I really do like the look/feel of gbpvr and of course I need the DVR capabilities. I was just wondering if it would open up doors to other streamers (not just the MVP & PCH) if it could access gbpvr through html. If no one has any interest in that idea, then that is where it will crash and burn

mvpmc could really run on any "streamer" too in fact that is my goal. I don't plan on stopping with the PCH (I was running quite well on a Roku Photobridge in HD last year). I would like to get it running on a PS3 and a Roku Netflix player.

SwissCenter on the other hand is really geared to the older generation of Syabas players.

This is the wrong sub-forum for that question, there is a Developer's area and if Pernod is really interested, he should do the research.

Like sub I like the GBPVR interface and speed. I find that that Swiss Center's has a dated look, (I know you don't) and I think this would be a step backwards for GBPVR users in general.

If he downloads and installs GB-PVR, he'll be able to find the complete source to EWA in the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\web directory. It is a good example of all the IScheduleHelper APIs in action, showing getting lists of channels, tv listings, scheduling recordings etc. EWA is .net/aspx based, and I'm guessing SwissCenter isnt, so if they wanted to do this, they might have to create a small wrapper to live in EWA to expose any APIs they want as web services.

I know the GB-PVR author visits here, so if he can point me in the direction of the API documentation then I'll probably take a look at it.

I'm not sure where he gets that from. This is the first time I've ever visited his site.

That would likely be me, even though I identified myself as the author of the mvpmcx2 client. I have offered some advise to the Swiss Center developer Pernod recently to help hime address some changes needed with the new firmware, as well as to the developer of Simese web server because quite frankly it was (and is) still broken in working with the PCH.
