Windows Update is wanting me to install SP3 for XP (Pro). Will it cause any problems for GB-PVR/PCH/HD-PVR?

I can only speak for GBPVR which has acted no differently after installing SP3. Actually, I can't see why it's needed but I installed it anyway.

If everything is already working on your machine it should be fine. Make sure you update to WMP11 first. You won't be able to do so afterwards.

SP3 effectively just rolls up all the patches and enhancements introduced since SP2 that appear in windows update already (although there are a few improvements):

Have been running it since release with no issues.

Almost, Sp3 includes ALL updates previous to it's release in their most recent form, as well as a few other things, one can safely and correctly go from xp flat to sp3 with no intermediate steps. If you have a Symantec Antivirus product (nortons, end point protection) turn it off while you update.

You need atleast SP1 installed before installing SP3. It does not work from raw XP without any SPs.

FWIW, after assurances from the group that it would not cause any grief, I installed SP3 the other day and everything seems to be working just fine.

Thanks to all who responded to my question.
