Hi sub/Martin,

Just wanted to post that I tried the PCH patch with 1280x720 and am really really pleased with it and the speed of the menus. I tried a picture slide show on the MVP this a.m. and it was pretty ugly on the TV, but using the PCH it was great. Menus faster than the MVP too.

Thanks to you both, what a great wee project.

I am still not 100% clear on the difference between setting 1280x720 in the config.xml and 720p in the startme file, but I think the first is the UI and the second is show playback?

Cheers and thanks again (btw the NMT forum post seems to have 4 pages of posts now, looking up!)

k, good to hear you got it working. The short answer on why you have to configure he client and the server is that the mvpmcx2 is still basically emulating an MVP and Hauppauge didn't considered the possibility of anything but ntsc or pal.

Where it has its advantage is on a 1920x1080 screen you can inset a smaller, centred screen with the dimensions of your choosing by lowering the server side dimensions.

Cheers, so the server side is the UI setting in config.xml and client side is in the startme right?. So if I have a 32" HDTV capable of 1080p, thebest I can get client side is to put /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080 in startme, correct?

I would not use -m 1080 if I could help it, since it is 1080i and sends a lot more data than necessary for a nice display. I'm thinking more where you define a big screen at 720p

-m 720 --display 1920x1080

and tell GB-PVR that it is smaller if you don't want to fill a huge 63" panel or larger projection screen.

I captured a couple of videos just to show what GPBVR was capable of today.

It might give some of you who haven't seen an MVP or a PCH before an idea of the speed an look and feel too.

I did not realize you can keep the music playing but return back to the menu. Do you just hit the return key? How did you get the GBPRV screen saver to kick in in the second video?

I can't do that with HDMI audio (it's been mentioned before in some other threads) so it is disabled in the released versions. I like it so I keep it. The problem with the screen saver is the song title never updates.

Edit: If you add --no-nmt-gui you will get GBPVR back in Internet Radio and you will see what I mean.

For those of you who haven't ever seen an MVP or the PCH here is a screen capture I made to show other PCH users that the interface does not have to be slow. Try the higher def link though.

The folder names where created via a script my taste runs more to indie and progressive.

I made a post of interest, with a link to another YouTube demo, on the NMT forum
