After hesitating more than a year I have finally replaced the system disk and made a clean install of XPP+GBPVR. Based on all the problem reports here I feared the worst. And it happened! Not GBPVR but my original genuine plain XPP CD refused to install on my Asus board. I have tried four different SP2 slipstream recipes to no avail. So I 'borrowed' something.
Once I had XPP in place and all the updates installed GBPVR worked almost 'right out of the box' .

I hope you will allow me one more day of enjoyment of an unspoiled install, before taking up testing ML3 (which I do of course with pleasure)

Updated Beta to 8.0.3 - mainly worked on the first time user startup and setup.

• Worked on the First time user initialisation - users are now forced to enter DB name before being able to do anything else
  
• Verified the DB creation for new users
  
• Removed MSAccess as a usable database
  
• Fixed bug with settings not being updated in config form

psycik is there anyway you could you create a nowplaying jpeg or png file in the recording directory, which would be the screen capture of ML3 running of the playing panel. I actually don't what you call this view, but you posted a nice screen shot of this (which I can't find). It probably is this one with album art

umm, possibly. I think it was easier in the "old days" since we were dealing with images directly.

We don't tend to do that any more, so we might need subs help on that one, but i dont see why not.

And update it when the track changes?

Yes I can do track changes now but I have nothing to show. I can take image view the Hauppauge protocol too but that is more work I think.

I will test mostly on MVP with standard blue skin. I can occassionally connect a screen an keyboard to the server which sits in a closet where the cable enters our home. I will compile my findings in this post.

Random play with All/All selected (ML3 version 8.04)
- The display of the actual playlist is not automatically updated at the end of a song. I can force an update with touching a.o. the volume button (no longer works in 8.06). The Mainmenu screen of GBPVR does update the song title automatically. (still in 8.06)
- I cannot navigate with the up/down keys in the playlist to skip one or more songs. (fixed in 8.0.6)
- Something funny happens to the end of the playlist. If the last track is reached, it is skipped and a new list is generated and displayed. This first track nicely plays till the end. (still in 8.06)
and then the following is displayed. However the sound has gone. It seems that ML3 hangs at that point. After a while the server starts hibernating. (not tested yet in 8.06))

Skin issues (ML3 version 8.04)
- Some text lines are wrapped now, which makes them hard to read. If possible I suggest to switch of wrap mode, because this plugin needs quite a bit of space. Wrapping is worse than cutting of lines IMO. (still in 8.06)
- In my setup the 'n' is missing from the text (Switch Screen) next to the blue button. (still in 8.06)
- The position indicator of the actually playing song is missing underneath the album art. (still in 8.06)

Community Skin issues (ML3 version 8.04)
I am regularly using CS3 and beta testing CS4 with this ML3 beta. Some issues specific to that skin are posted here. If I state CS in my comment, the issue is with both versions
- In CS Fatman_do has increased the real estate for detailed text display. I suggest to use that layout for your standard blue skin as well.
- In CS can display composer information, however this information is not yet shown on screen in the appropriate places (still in 8.06)

Queue (Yellow button) (ML3 version 8.04)
- If one or more tracks are added to an existing queue, the whole queue restarts playing from the beginning. (still in 8.06)

Library View (ML3 version 8.04)
- If a track is selected (with the OK button), the detailed information screen does not pop-up (still in 8.06)

Scan Now from GBPVR configuration tool (ML3 version 8.04)
- The Scan commands continues to complain that the collections have changed and need to be saved before continuing with scan. I haven't changed the paths and collections

20090126 Testing of ML2 with new ML3 backend. Some of the facts observed above were also seen with the ML2 front:

I can't get it to work in Blue or in the Community skin. The initial screen is blank. Then if I hit the down arrow, it brings me to a screen where I can change the genres and such, but no music shows. If I hit return at anytime it brings me to the main menu. ctrl-p and such do nothing.

On a side note, I tried ML2 and it was a toss-up, some mp3s played while others didn't. No rhyme or reason that I can figure, sometimes tracks from the same album would have this odd result, which is why I decided to give ML3 a try.

In my opinion at this moment you are better of getting ML2 to work. ML3 still needs quite a bit of work.

I'd agree with pz1 on this.

Can you post a new thread in the MusiclIbrary2 forum with your ML2 issues and logs.
