HEre are the specs:

120gb WD HD
256 mb ram
Hauppauge 350
EPIA 6000
win2k
Antenna TV

Here's the issue. I can select a channel, and it will start to play. But any time I go back to "home" the whole computer will crash on me. I did not know if there are any tweaks or things to do to increase performance, or conflicts that might be going on. I believe I have the latest downloads from shpvr. It's starting to get a little frustrating. Thanks in advance

I tried this combination myself in the early days. This PC is just too slow. Its about the equivalent of a 350MHz pentium II. The recommended minimum for GB-PVR is now about a PIII 1GHz.

There is also problems with using the PVR350 drivers on the via chipset in the EPIA ME6000 that could cause the PC to lock solid or reboot. This problem is only evident if you use the TV out and decoder. The capture side of things should be fine.

Sorry, I know this isnt good news.

Is this also a known problem on the M10000 VIA chipset?
I am using a PVR350 on a VIA M10000 board, with 512Mb RAM.

GBPVR works fine, except occasionally locks the entire PC when changing channels in LiveTV mode

I've seen some comments regarding PVR350 drivers, and also Teletext. Haven't tried them yet. I am using New Zealand Channels 1,2 3 through antenna

I am currently testing the setup away from living room, where reception not so good. I did notice that since I installed better antenna, lockups happen slightly less frequently, so maybe related to signal???

I have always had this behaviour on my M10000/pvr-350. Never got it to work. Should probably say that I have pretty much given up so I haven't tried all the latest and greatest of everything. Some people have reported that the issue is gone with the latest beta drivers from hauppauge. You can find them here at shspvr.
Make sure to follow installation instructions.

Even with the latest drivers, the lockups are still an issue with Live-TV and hardware decoding through the 350.

Has anyone had any success in getting the PVR350 to work in LiveTV mode with the M10000?
I'll give the driver upgrade an option, though it looks like a fresh Windows install followed by new drivers might be easier than the registry hacks suggested in the install/uninstall docs

Just checked on viaarena.com. Looks like there's a probable bug in the VT8235 Southbridge to do with DMA bursts causing lockups on the M10000 board.

See http://forums.viaarena.com/message....=Linear

I'll have a play with disabling DMA on HDD, disabling onboard NIC, etc as suggested in article to see if I can get the M10000 / PVR350 any more stable..

I didn't get anywhere with this unfortunately. I have temporarily decided that the LiveTV feature is something I can do without. I might "blog" about my newbie experiences setting up an M10K/350 system if anyone can suggest a suitable place to post on this forum.
BTW, Sub - would you be interested in doing a presso to the local NZ.NET user groups? This is an awesome app and I can help organise if you are interested.
