Got my HDHomerun setup and configured in GBPVR without issue. Big Grin

I noticed that my first recording from the tunner is being saved in the MS DVR-MS format. Which (from my past experience) is not the most desireable Mux to use.

My question is....what is the best Mux to use? The majority of my recordings are watched these days via the PCH A100.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

.mpg is generally the easiest to work with as it's the most supported but if you don't have a .mpg muxer, then .ts should work just as well.

Looking to maintain HD quality....does that make any difference?

The choice of mux wont affect the quality of the video within the file that is produced, but some muxes produce better timing information that can help with smoother playback.

I'd try the TS Mux option, since it as close to the original broadcast as you can get.

I don't think there is a best mux at this point, but ilovejedd's comment is too vague. With the PCH you have two choices raw mpeg-ts streams (exact copies of the digital stream) or muxed mpeg-ps streams (using Cyberlink or ATI muxes) and you will have to experiment.

Ok...TS Mux wasn't very good...so I installed the Cyberlink Mux....which seemed to do a good job....so then I decided to try some of the other muxes.

Somewhere along the line GBPVR stopped using the Mux I selected in Misc2 and is always using the ms-dvr mux.

When I run the Mux Checker program it does not show the ms-dvr mux as being installed....which it was prior to me installing/uninstalling other muxes.

I am rebooting now to see if that resolves the issue but I thought I would ask incase there is some sort of known issue.

Was that on the PC or the PCH? The TS Mux is pretty much the unaltered stream of bytes that was transmitted by the broadcaster. Recordings with this mux are usually perfect, and any issues encountered are playback problems.

If you reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs, I'll take a look for you.

It doesnt list the DVR-MS mux. It just has a simple note saying that if you have XP SP1 or higher then you'll also have the DVR-MS mux.

I'm not sure what that log is. I mean the GB-PVR logs (specifically GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log and GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log)
