Wikipedia Plugin, Invitation

Hi Folks,

I'm asking myself if anyone would be intersted in a wikipedia plugin too. I think thats one of the plugins that can boost gbpvr up. I have started a little investigating the wikipedia interfaces, but to be realstic, I can spend so less time in it that the alpha release would be not be ready until 2020.

So I would like to ask if someone would be interested in sharing this project, regardless of your skills. I would suggest to start a sourceforge project.

How do you conceive of what this plugin would do, in terms of formatting and metadata? You could start with a fairly simple version that was just a text entry and some HTML scraping -- is that what you're envisioning?

Yes, but rather use the export function which reurns a xml document, see example

the media (pictures) could be retrieved ie as
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spezial:Dateipfad

there are some special formats like tables or embedded movie types that needs to be converted, but I think that a first (quick) version would not need it.

Sounds intriguing -- even a first cut (non-hypertext) version could be useful.

I'd be more than happy to help out however I can, although -- like everyone else -- I don't know how much time I can put into it (probably enough to get it done before 2020, though...)
