I originally caught this blog post because the author said he had given up on Battlestar Galactica, which I think is the best show in TV by far, so I started out reading this being ticked off.

But he does have an interesting point. I remember while Alias was still on, I had to race through three seasons of DVDs before I could start watching the broadcasts and it did sort of seem like a bit of work.

How many of us have blown through entire DVD sets of shows to 'catch up' to a show in progress?

Never done that, but we have watched all the Star Wars movies in a weekend when a new one came out and watched the Indian Jones movies when the new one came out.

Maybe that theory explains why with GBPVR running, 2 replay TVs and almost 2 TB of storage, I wind up recording how to shows and movies these days. Well, add Dr. Who into that also.

(BTW, Glenn Larson should have been strung up for Battlestar Galactica. He killed lots of good ideas and made them crap in the 70's. ie Switch. When I saw his name in the credits of the new BSG, I didn't even bother.)
IBM P4, 3Ghz with 1GB RAM
500GB Storage (on this one), HVR-1600 capture card
ATI-1050 256MB, and more as I think it up!
OK, I finally bought a HD TV. Glad I had some stuff recorded to watch!

I found the 3rd series of Alias too much hard work so gave up.

Well, the most recent season of BSG has been tough to get through - they forget to advance the storyline in whole episodes back to back sometimes and it is really tedious Smile

I like the show though - don't get me wrong. It is just suffering a bit of the same way that The Matrix did in it's sequels. Too much "my soul, my heart, my mind" mumbo-jumbo and not enough fragging action.

When a show is ending it's run, they always seem to try to fit too much in in too short a time. I think that happened with BSG. Too many story lines to try and finish in the home stretch. Still, it was a great show in it's short run.
