I seem to have two or three revs of .NET installed. Do I need them all, or does the latest version include compatibility with previous versions?

I'm running version 3.5. I cleaned up and got rid of 2.0 and 3.0. Works fine for me on XP. I think I uninstalled all of them from the control panel add/remove programs, and then re-installed 3.5. I was reluctant to try to take 2.0 and 3.0 "out from under" 3.5, so I just went the conservative approach.

.NET 2 SP1 you need for current GBPVR v1.3.7.

However other software might need other versions of .NET
Many Thanks

That's the question I'm trying to resolve: when you say 'other software may require....' does that mean some apps are tied to a particular rev of .Net even though (I'm presuming here since I haven't yet a definitive answer) that newer versions of the framework support calls to older versions?

Dot net 3.5 seems to be a rollup of .NET 2 SP1 & 3.0 into one package.

You may try running with only 3.5 installed for GBPVR.
Older versions of the catalyst control center used 1.1 - but I think they have shifted to 2.0 now.

.net 1 and 2.0 have their own section in the GAC
3 and 3.5 just go on top of 2.0

So if an app uses 1 then you need 1 installed.
otherwise 3.5 will cover all the rest.

Thanks - I'll try uninstalling everything apart from 3.5 and see what happens! Trying to keep the PVR lean....

if you're going to be uninstalling .net's then i would suggest removing them all and re-installing only the one you want.
For instance, uninstalling 2.0 will remove dlls that 3.0 and 3.5 rely on (since they are shared between them).
