Hi,

I just switched to GBPVR 1.3.7 and noticed that MVP does not play recordings from the library if the path or filename does contain the german umlaut ä.

I guess the problem is not that specific, but I've did not run more tests. MVP-PVRX2.exe-1.log contains the following exception:

2008-11-04 01:49:32.874 ERROR [7] Media stream thread caught exception: System.ArgumentException: Ein leerer Pfad ist unzulässig.
bei System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy)
bei System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share)
bei GBPVRX2.MVP.x3ca133dee7547455.xf9d81bb81f7c2ff0()

"Ein leerer Pfad ist unzulässig" means "an empty path is illegal".
The file plays fine in PVRX2. It also plays fine at the MVP when renamed to not contain the german umlaut.

Arnes, could you compress and upload your logs. I know that in MVP mode the server doesn't like full file names to the MVP and sub fixed this by using short filenames which shouldn't contain non-ascii characters. If you are playing from a share it is possible it doesn't have shortname support.

Here you go... the recording is called "Sat.1-Frühstücksfernsehen" (breakfast tv). I've tried to play it from the newest recordings menu. The MVP falls back to the mvpmc start screen.

The logs do show an error related to the shortname. Can you play the file from the video library.

Ok, so I fired up my MVP and renamed an mpeg to the same filename and sure enough it fails on a shortname error for me too. Sub will have to look into this.

Should I post a link to this thread to the support forum?

Hi,

I just stumbled across the same problem when trying to play back a recording named "Aktenzeichen XY ungelöst_20081105_20152145.mpg" on the mvp.

It seems that there was a new config parameter introduced in the latest version. Setting it to "true" solved the problem:
Code:
<MVPUseShortFilenamesOnNMT>true</MVPUseShortFilenamesOnNMT>

Thanks, that does work for me too.
