I thought I'd bump this and hope that sub has a little time to look into it, when he's done his day job! LOL

Currently, using the GB-PVR gui on an MVP, DVD folders (disk or folders) using a video_ts directory structure, is inaccessable.

I have made improvements to ZProcess that would help transcode on the fly a vob set, and works great if the vobs are not in a video_ts folder.

Now if only I could get into a DVD structure while in MVP...

ZProcess could be set to take whatever file was selected to run, ignore it, and actually start the first large vob in a set (usually the main movie), and string together all the rest of the vobs in the set...

(yes, the vobs will need to be unencrypted (anydvd))...

Sounds great if it is possible to watch a DVD from a folder through the MVP. Did some testing with XVid but the whole thing was either to slow or did not work.

The trick is that you need a simple tool. Whenever you are in a menu on the MVP you only got the remote.

My ideal tool would be a simple folder browser like Video Library (let's call DVD Library). The browsing would tak place from a main folder. Let's say D:\MYDVD.

In D:\MYDVD would then be a lot of subfolders like for instance Harry Potter 1, Harry Potter 2. In the Harry Potter 1 folder there would be either the vob files (and a folder.jpg to show the art) or the VIDEO_TS folder. Either is fine with me.

In the DVD Library browser you see the Art (sort of like the Slick). When you press PLAY the PC would start the transform to MPEG and you could watch the movie. A "Please wait" and a timer before start would be nice.

Major setback is that you do not have all the nice Dolby Digital etc.. But hé with some movies that is not important...

We already have that... It's called the Video Library ! Except it doesn't allow you to open a DVD folder, whether it is disk or drive, that has a Video_TS folder. That means everything is fine if you change the name of the Video_TS folder.

So that's what the wish is. Via the remote, only with MVP, navigate into the DVD folder and click any of the VOBs

ZProcess will take care of the rest, first auto picking the first large VOB and then sewing together all the VOBs. It would down size the VOB into a smaller MPG, and it would down sample and normalize the audio.

It's all working on the latest version of ZProcess. Just waiting for sub to have some time... Let's see what happens

Looks like we have the same wish. I know that the Video Library is what I describe. Just not for DVD and certainly not on a MVP.

Sounds great if you can get that working!!!!

Not wanting to dampen you enthusiasm, my two cents says this is a waste of time for sub. If you want compression and quality in one file AGK or AutoMKV offer much better alternative. They output AVI file which is handled really well via ffmpeg or ZProcess in creating O-T-F MVP compatible output.

Ok... Big Grin Tell me what to do besides wait on Sub...

Is it something someone figured out. On the long run I'll hook up the GBPVR to my new flatscreen TV. For the near future I'm not going to buy a very silent PC with all the nice dolby etc. stuff, a flatscreen and build a new GBPVR.

I use a Windows 2003 server in a closet somewhere which is allready running. I got ethernet all over the house. So I use a MVP to give me my mediacenter (living and bedroom). Sure MVP is not the best but for 80% I use it as a neat videorecorder. Any extra I can use it for would be nice.

I'm not aware if there are any better options then a MVP... heard something about PCH but it needs some work. I know the best thing is to buy that silent PC and build a new GBPVR and I will someday.

So any help with extra nice options I can use on a MVP would be nice... Tnx..

I was proposing a solution which I felt was both better for an MVP user and would also be future proof.

I know that Popcorn Hour is the cat's a$$. But I think that having DVD access is something that should have been available a couple of years ago. And it was through xDVD, but I was never happy with it.

So I'm a little late coming up with an idea... Actually, I wonder how difficult it would be to defeat the mechansim that prevents regular directory access and creates a [e].dvd filename.

Popping a DVD in and then transcoding it into a AVI (Probably manually) or whatever and then on the Fly Transcoding into an MPEG, is still more than pop a DVD in and watch DVD...

PCH is coming along nicely. I know that I won't be going that route for a long while though for other reasons, and best not to get into them here... I would recommend it, from what I've heard, and knowing the dedicated development that goes on here.

With due respect, I know why Martin would rather sub not work any further on the mvp. Certainly, the MediaMVP is so yesterday.

I've considered this idea well and GUESSED that it would require the least amount of coding/tweaking.

Of course another possibility is working with the author of xDVD and get the plugin to call ZProcess or at least implement a more robust solution than currently offered...

Or write a new plugin, which I doubt I'll be doing any time soon...
