Hi. I am thinking of going twin DVB - T PCI cards so that I can make use of all the channels in the UK. Can someone help me with a few questions?

1) Is there solid support for DVB-T cards in gb-pvr?
2) What is a good card to get? (Bearing in mind that I am in the UK)
3) Has anybody done a PVR150 + dual DVB-T card setup and (apart from all the hassles did it work OK?)
4) Do they come with an IR Reciever? I am not sure I want to go through all the hassles of getting 3 IR Remote recievers working again. I would like just to be able to use a single IR Reciever. The remaining one that is connected to my PVR150. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for your time.

1. I believe sub has only recently added dvb-t support so I wouldn't say its as muture as mpeg2 cards.
2. Can't say too much as I only had dealings with the old nova-t with gbpvr, but I have owned 3 dvb-t cards. But if you can get a 90002 nova-t cheaply I would say this is a good bet as long as you don't use the supplied software. I believe the twinhan cards are supported with gbpvr and these can be had rather cheaply in the UK. If your into ebay flyview dvb-t cards can be had cheaper still and apparently have support in gbpvr but not sure if two of these work together. So it might be a good idea to get two different brands so there is more chance of them playing nicely.
3. Nope but I did have 1 dvb-t card and a pvr250 and usb2 pvr running fine.
4. With the above set up I use just one remote (although all the remotes are the same in my set up), infact I don't have my nova-t reciever plugged in.

1. I assume you're asking if the software works solidly? I'd like to say yes but really I can only say 'mostly'. Sufficeit to say that my wife understands totally that if she schedules something on one of the digital channels, it's not guaranteed to work. In saying that though, in the majority of cases of failure, there has been at least one of my analogue capture sources recording at the same time and I've only just got around to juggling cards to force them on to unique IRQs - I'm hoping this will fix the situation.

2. I only have experience of the Nova-t 90002. My feeling is that the hardware is solid and the most recent drivers appear to be as well.

3. No, not a PVR150 but a 350 and a 500 but see point 1. above with the 'mostly' comment and the possible IRQ conflicts I'm working on.

4. The Nova-t (retail, not MCE) comes with an IR Receiver. I've never used any of my receivers as I normally watch using MVP or occasionally directly on PC monitor.

Well, that's my experience but I am pushing the envelope here a bit - not only with GB-PVR's relativly recent BDA/DVB-T support but also the number of h/w resources I'm trying to get to play nice with each other. If you're going to try a DVB-T card, get one first and get it to work properley with your 150 for a week or two before introducing a second one - you might get less of a headache that way. Smile

Cheers,

Probably my inexperience, but beware of putting a Hauppauge Nova T PCI together with a PVR150.

I have these two cards & cannot get them to co-exist within my system at all. I probably haven't spent long enough trying (but should I really have to as these are both £70 cards?).

Whenever I try installing the drivers for the second card, windows just gives me the blue screen of death and then promptly reboots...really really annoying. This is in an AMD64 system, so I'm told may be something to do with memory...the two cards may well happily co-exist in everyone else's system, just not mine!.

Hauppauge tech support is not great at all in UK unfortunately, but I haven't tried really stalking them yet...which usually does the trick...

That said, either card on their own works great of course & both work well with GBPVR. The nova T is not as stable within GBPVR as the PVR150 is though.
