Got it!

Sorry for the loss of focus. That's what happens when you don't touch it for a week.

All formats working now. It needed a registry clean as you advised.

Great work, and my apologies for the last request, as I should have reviewed the posts once again.

I'm quite glad you got it. I have improved error checking and a smoother install process along the way...

OK, now I'm getting adventurous.

Tested a mkv file 716mb. worked great.

Tried a mkv that is 4.5gb. Played for 10 seconds, resets to menu.

Config setting?

Thanks in advance

Have no clue. I haven't used mkv files. I didn't even know MEncoder or FFmpeg could handle them...

Actually my bet is that the settings won't matter when it's a very large input file. It's possible you'd have the same trouble transcoding a set of VOBs from a DVD (new feature - I'm still tweaking though)

But if it all works and then something doesn't work, it might still be preplay delay in GB-PVR... Try a manual transcode and see what kind of fps you get

OK, I've finally gotten around to testing all this. I think I am close, because I get ztranscode and zprocess working ok on the gbpvr pc without using the MVP.

When I use the MVP, it starts, and watching the pc I can see zprocess kick off, then it stops, and goes back to the video menu/list on the TV/MVP.

When I look at the mpg files from running ztranscode and zprocess on the pc, they look good. When I look at the file generated by trying to view the file through the MVP, it is a smaller rectangle offset to the left, it doesn't seem to be using the right settings.

I've attached my logs from the MVP_cache folder.

The other strange thing is I don't get a logs folder in the Ztools directory. Do I have the latest version?

This is the last, newest version that I was beta trialing in another thread

http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=13

I believe I addressed several ideas where it would check if the Recordng service is set to 'Interact with Desktop'. And most all my logs are copied into one folder for easy gathering.

If you are still having trouble, I would suggest removing ZProcess settings.reg. And start over again. The logs you have given me show that you are getting adequate frames per second.

As far as the rectangle off center -- I would definitely want a copy of regsettings.txt and your config.xml. If you have setup MVPScreen Position corrctly, and allowed ZProcess to use those coordinates, then it would probably create a strange shaped rectangle...

Again, I'm pretty sure the newest version from my post will gather all the files I'd like...

Got it to work. Used the latest you sent me. The first test hung the MVP (Failed to locate GUI Server, then connecting, then the menu came back). I went right back to the video and tried to run it again, without doing anything else, and it worked, really well. Then I tried others of different aspect ratios, and they worked as well. There were slight anomalies, like my first video. I think all the full image was there, or at least 98% of it, but it wasn't vertically centered on the screen, the black on the bottom was bigger than the black on top, so it was shifted up, but not a big deal. This is awesome tho, means I can play all those divX files.

Where would I look to find out why/where it choked the first time?

Actually, I'm happy it worked. It knew that it choked and corrected itself immediately.

I think this should have been the steps (I will be updating the wiki)

Optionally, but firstly, set MVPScreenPosition

Then Open ZProcess and open a file (you should not have to make ANY settings changes), click start, double click on the ZTranscode icon in system tray, confirm good FPS, click View, confirm video playing correctly
When you open ZProcess the first time it will check and set several requirements automatically.
Try on MVP to view file. The picture should play, but might still be a little distorted. Possibly the distortion is so intense it reboots MVP.

But it will have gathered a key piece of information. On the first try, it should have gathered your MVP Mac address. Subsequently, it will match your MVP Mac to the entry in the MVPScreenPosition entry in config.xml, and use those values.

If you have decided NOT to use MVP Screen Postion, then It should work the first and every time.

If it still only crashes the very first timew after installed, I'm not worried about it...

The fps log shows a record of your fps during transcode. You can see a trend if it nose dives, you have a problem. THE ZProcess log also shows a nose dive in fps, as it tries to gun the engines and try to pull out of the nose dive... If your system is marginally getting a good fps, then you'll see this CPU priority shifting helps you get just a bit more boost. But if your starting at 25 FPS and nose dives, you don't have a hope...

Anyway, just some things to think about.

enough blabbering
