I know that there are a view topics about this, but i still have a few questions. I have a few avi files and like to play the over my MVP.

I installed xrecord but i can not tell the plugin where my avi video's are. If i select video in the xrecord menu it tells me, you have no videos.

I found out that i have to install VLC, what is that?

Thanks

Playing AVI files is now built in to the latest version. Try accessing your AVIs from the video library.

To do this on your MVP you have to have a recent version of the Hauppauge software installed on your Server system (you don't need to run the Hauppauge services though).

Email your Trans2MVP.exe-native.log to me at support@devnz.com and I'll take a look.

I have a somewhat related question as I'm also having problems with avi files on my mvp (screen size and sync, blahblahblah...)

I don't *think* ffdshow is being invoked as if I configure it for an OSD (can't remember the correct term, I'm at work) I should see it on the file played so I know it's working yeah? Nothing I do in ffdshow config seems to have any effect.

I'm sure I am missing something, but I'm not sure what.... my solution used to be to re-encode avi's at 640x480 or 320x240 (per hauppauge guidelines), but I was hoping using ffdshow as I've seen it described would remove the need for this (boring) activity.

Can anyone help? I'd love to get this sorted out.

Thanks in advance.

When editing the ffdshow settings yuou need to edit the ffdshow 'raw-only filter configuration' settings.

To see if ffdshow is being used, you can run graphedit when a transcode is progress and use the 'connect to remote graph' menu option. This will show the graph that is being used.

There is something to this problem. Here are the facts:

1) FFDShow is my only XVID/DIVX codec on my box.
2) AVIs play fine on my machine using GBPVR or ZoomPlayer (using
FFDShow)
3) I have configured GBPVR to use FFDShow for MVP transcode &
post-processing
4) Yet when I try to play an AVI on the MVP it dies (server search reset)
and the transcode log file claims a proper decoder cannot be found.

It seems that the GBPVR code stumbles when trying to find the appropriate
decoders (or perhaps it's not using the Hauppauge code correctly?)
