Sub,

After using GraphEdit to look more closely at the filters that were used
(from your transcode log file) I've found the problem. The Hauppauge
MainConcept MPEG encoder has a property entitled "Handle Time Stamps".
This appears to NOT be set when you build your graph, and because of this
a large number of AVIs will not play correctly. When set, any syncing problems
go away.

This is not something I have access to programattically. If I was an official licensee of the MainConcept components, then I'm sure they would provide this information. Unfortunately I'm not.

When you turn this setting on once, does it stay on?

Also, I'm not sure why its would be working fine for some users and not others. I've have no problems playing my set of divx files, and I've not enabled this setting. It may depend on the source of your file, and how accurate the timestamps are in that file.

Sub,

Unfortunately no, it only stays on for the duration of the GraphEdit session.
I don't have a huge number of AVIs to draw generalizations from, but it
seems that ones with AC3 sound have a problem with the Hauppauge MC
filter.

Interestingly, I downloaded a demo version (1.42) of MainConcepts' retail
encoder and used that instead of the Hauppauge version in GraphEdit. Voila!
Everything works fine.

This brings me to a suggestion: instead of hardcoding the MPEG encoder as
Hauppauges, could you let the system choose it via the filter's merit, or allow
the user to handpick one from a list? This would be nice as there other
encoders that do as good a job and as fast.

Thanks,

Can you email me the encoder file from the demo version? If so, I'll try to add support for it.

To be quite honest, I dont think there are any others that will do the job that could be slotted in to this approach. I needed a single filter so that I wouldnt have to introduce a mux filter. The only filter I know of that works this way are the MainConcept encoder.

mhj, download the latest version.

Tipstir, Can you create a schedule? Where does it fail, the plugin or at scheduling time. If it is the later check your epg update.bat and make sure it is in there.

The latest version of Hauppauge (Beta) MVP software allows you to play avi. You just have to install the an avi player first (ww.divx.com). Download the player from here(its free)...select "standard" install and not the trial professional version. Re-install Hauppauge MVP and hey presto you can watch avi. There is a bit of an issue with sync. between video and sound if you press forward. But this can be resolved by stopping and restarting movie. It asks you to "resume" which takes you back to the point you are in film. Its early days for this type of technology. In my experince the Hauppauge software is more stable than GBPVR.

I've found I can't use the MVP remote (i.e. moving forward, key values)...which renders the software, lets face it, useless.
