ATI Remote Wonder II help

I can't figure out how to get my RWII working. I tried using HIP to map the keys but when it was time to program the buttons, it wouldn't recognize when one was being pressed. I guess I don't even know if the remote itself works. I downloaded the newest drivers, v3.4 I think, but they display as 2.0.0 so something is weird there too. How can I figure out if the remote is working, and is HIP the best thing to use, or should I try EventGhost or something else?

nevermind. After a few reboots, it randomly started working and I got it all programed with HIP too.
