after you've strated the video, try using the mouse to pause the video first. then use firefly to control the video. This is what happens to me, i want to see if it's your same problem.

It works now with your global & GBPVR xml files you attached in one of your previous posts. I don't know what changed, but the basic FireFly functions work now when playing back a recorded video (Pause, FF, Skip Forward, Skip Rewind, Stop, Play) Although, the rewind did not seem to work, but that's alright since the Skip Rewind works.

One thing I did notice though, was when the computer first boots and when you press the FireFly button for the first time, the screen focus is not on the GBPVR screen so the navigation does not work until you press the FireFly button for a second time. It may just be my setup.

Attached are the files I am using that seem to work now.

Anyway, thanks for your files.

I found out what the problem is for me, maybe for other issues for you or other users.

When you play a divx encoded file for the first time after a reboot using the VIDEOS menu option, the divx codec runs a program called c:\windows\system32\divxsm.exe. firefly then thinks this is the current running program and won't respond to the firefly gbpvr xml file.

Two solutions: (1) rename the divxsm.exe file so it won't run. this is tested and works for me. (2) create an firefly divx.xml file (same as your gbpvr.xml) with the following info classname=qwidget, filename=c:\windows\system32\divxsm.exe, windowtext=DivX Menu Navigator (i've not tested this option but it may work). you'll have to modify the global.xml so it knows about divx.xml etc etc.

For your other issue regarding rewind, i've attached an updated xml file that fixes it. it was setup as control R for rewind, so I changed it to control D.

good luck.

Thanks for the updated GBPVR.xml file I'll will give it a try.

New issues I'm experiencing are listed below. Do you think these could be corrected by renaming the divix file you mentioned in the previous post?

1. When watching a recorded tv program and selecting the stop button on the FireFly remote, the PVRX2 program more times than not generates a popup dialog box with an error stating "PVRX2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". The PVRX2 must be closed and restarted to recover. If the pause button is selected first before pressing the stop button on the FireFly remote, the error does not seems to occur.

2. Audio disappears when moving from one recorded tv program to another. To get the audio back, I have to exit out of the PVRX2 program and re-start it. Sequence of events are as follows:

A. In the recording menu, I select a recorded tv program and select play.
B. I then select stop on the currently playing recorded tv program.
C. I then navigate to a different recorded tv program and select play. The audio can no longer be heard.

Attached is the error generated by PVRX2 when pressing the stop button on the FireFly remote when playing a recorded tv program. This error does not occur all the time but very often.

I think I might have fixed my own problem regarding the PVRX2 generating an error when the stop button is pressed on the FireFly remote when playing a recorded tv program, and loosing audio when navigating to different recorded tv programs. I'll have to continue to test it to be more certain if I actually fixed it. I'll let you know after more play time.

Possible Fix:
The ID used to login to my XP computer did not have security rights to the GBPVR.xml file. I gave it Read, Execute, List to the GBPVR.xml file.

Oh by the way, your updated GBPVR.xml resolved the rewind issue. Thanks, you have been a great deal of help!!

Thanks again.

Well after just a few more tests, it would appear correcting the security setting on the GBPVR.xml file fixed problem number 1 but problem number 2 with the audio still exists.

One more thing, does anyone know if there is a way to tune the recorded video play back so that a moving scene does not appear to have a slight delay in the movement?

Thanks again for all your help!
