I tried the LAME encoder, as I already use this for FM radio support, but I couldn't get it to connect to this combination of filters. It just wasn't having a bar of it...

Okay. Can you add it so that MP3 is used if MPEG Layer-3 isn't found? I'm going to try and do a direct show update on that machine, just to be sure that it's current on the direct show drivers.

tipstir Wrote:Sub, what about these ports for:

MVP Control Thread Listening on port: 5906
MVP Streaming thread Listening on port: 8337

Do you have them open on your router or you test HTPC for your MVP?
From memory, yes these need to be open for communicaton with the MVP.

Reinstalled Directx 9.0c, and still MP3 is the only audio compression, but it has the same GUID, version, and pin information as the MPEG Layer-3, so they seem to be one in the same, just under different names. Tried regediting to the MPEG Layer-3, but then Windows 2000 went nuts, and complained about a Hard Error.

So looks like we need to have GBPVR search for MP3 if it can't get MPEG Layer-3 when trying to compress to an AVI.

If you want me to test a modified NativeUtilities let me know.

Thanks again for all the hard work sub.

King, you could try this version. It tries to look for 'MP3' if it doesnt find 'MPEG Layer-3'.

I am having trouble with this version and the MVP too. It runs fine on the PC, but for the MVP it keeps crashing and restarting. Here are, I think, the key kines from the error log

I have disabled my firewall, so I don't think that is the problem. I also tried power cycling the MVP without luck.

Can anyone provide a reproducible set of steps to see this MVP problem. I've played around in this release on a couple of machines, but not had any issues.

Mine is reproducable (for me) in that it happens every time. The MVP never comes up. After GBPVR gets to the last line I copied from the log it seems to restart and go through it all again. I can't tell you anything special for you to try however. If you have things you'd like to me to try or logs you'd like me to send, let me know.

Admid all the furor, I want to chime in a positive note and say the TS-lock problem seems gone. No more wincing every time I leave tv like I'm cutting the red wire. Thx very much for that.
