At the risk of looking lazy, I'm looking for some help with installing a new HD in my PCH. I've spent the last 2 weeks wiki-ing and searching but the NMT website is huge. First, formatting my new 500GB Seagate gets to 70% or so and fails. Says to reboot and try again or the HD is bad. I've not formatted in NTFS yet but I'm doubtful it's a bad drive. So, what else might I do? Is there any way to format this like a Windows drive and use it as such? I'm not good with Linux (except some minor Ubuntu stuff).
I simply want to drag files from XP/Vista to the hard drive in the PCH and that's it.
Thanks for your help and pity.

I think the nmt drives are ext2 or ext3 so not sure if you can format as that (use ultimate boot disk or something like that) and then biff that in the pch....

What happens if you format drive as fat?? does that work? you still have to load the apps though to get the samba shares, and then you can drop stuff on it from windows via the lan.

4th time formatting looks like it might be working as it's 'downloading images' and got to 100%. If not, I'm going to take it out and put in an external case and format it with Acronis to Ext3 via USB as that's the only other advice I could find that worked for some.
It's the newbiness of all this device can do that I don't seem to have patience with but then again, I'm trying to do actual work at the same time as play and the 2 don't work well together. :o

You can't have a 500MB FAT32 partition, and the PCH doesn't understand NTFS so you are going to have to format it from the NMT setup screen which creates the ext3 partitions for you.

The thread on A110 compatible drivers is here if you are having problems.

The instructions for loading the extfs drivers so you can use the USB slave port are here

http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=12176

You can always load the drive via a share or ftp if you don't want to do this.

Thanks Martin. It finally did format on the 4th try so now I'm just trying to learn my way thru copying files to it from the networked pc's. So much to learn and so little time.
