I would love it if the GB-PVR service could set set to check for updates to the software at a configurable timeframe (daily, weekly etc) and pop-up a message box or a notification in the system tray when there is a new version out. I know something a bit like this has already been posted - but that was two years ago and seemed to be focused on plugin updates. I don't use any plugins but like to keep GB-PVR updated to take advantage of the latest bug-fixes and features.

Thanks

Andy

Something like the NMT forum for new firmware announcements would be handy.

A single forum thread, posting restricted to sub (and maybe a few selected others), that users could "subscribe" to for emails notification of new entries in the thread.

New releases, survival guide patches etc could reach a wide audience if folk rarely visit the forum.

You can already subscribe (via RSS) to the GB-PVR Announcements forum (which is where sub posts to inform people of a new release)

I am already subscribed to the RSS feed, but don't have any way to be informed that it is updated other than going and looking. I'm not too worried as I check the forums regularly - hmmm, now if you could subscribe to an individual forum as well as a thread......

Only problem is that whenever someone puts another reply to the pages and pages of posts already there you'll get an email. Is there a way to subscribe so you get an email on new THREADS only - not POSTS.

I don't know, couldn't see an obvious option for new threads only but that doesn't mean its not there Smile.

i'm thinking just open the forum, then click on forum tools and subscribe to forum...
but it may give emails on all new posts rather than my assumption of only new threads..
Big Grin
let us know how it goes..[i haven't tried that option yet]

i suscribed to a 'forum' [not a thread] and posted, and no emails yet..Smile

so hopefully it'll only email when new threads are started in that forum...Big Grin

if it works, that should be a major tip for a sticky Wink
[i know i've missed a few releases already!]
