Need help

OK I got the video from the Video Library to work. It was a codec problem. I tried the same video in the MMC and it didn't work. Then i tried the video file which worked on MMC in PVR and it worked fine.

so the PVR support only the file type MMC supports? I was hoping that this will play the HD (.mkv files) as well. will it not?

I am still unable to watch the live channels/TV and set those recordings. I still see nothing under tv guide and live tv. Its just the blank tv screen.

Like MMC, GBPVR will play any file you've got the appropriate decoders installed for. For example, if you want to play an xvid file, you need to have an xvid decoder installed. If you dont have one, then install one.

For any directshow app to be able to play .mkv files, you need to have a source filter for .mkv files installed. A popular one is the 'Haali Splitter', from http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/. If you have this installed, and the appropriate decoders for the video contained in your .mkv file, then they'll play fine in GB-PVR.

Try viewing the TV Guide, then zip and attach your pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log files and I'll take a look.

Yeah, to be able to play MKV files in the video library you'll need the haali splitter installed.

A good rule of thumb is that a file needs to be able play in WMP for it to be able to play in the video library, as they both use directshow components / codecs.

What was the file which did not work - codec, resolution, and filetype.

As Stu said earlier, you need to enable the channels to ensure they show in the TV guide.
Have you set your card / tuning etc in the analog recording plugin under the capture source setup?

BTW (I am not sure how important this is or may be i should mentioned this before). I am running WIN vista home premium 64 bit OS on HP m9100z with 8GB RAM

It might be Vista's file protection getting in the way. Delete the "c:\users\<your account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" directory, then try again.
