hi, i have a hdhomerun, now i have used your tool like you said so maybe i am missing something? the tool does write a new qam.ini, and when i go to scan (center 70+) it keeps bringing up tones of channels.....that do not seem to work. shouldn't the tool cut down the channels that do not work?

GBPVR will list all channels that are found in the 70+ range including the encrypted channels. The unencrypted channels should be marked with an asterisk (*).

also what is the benefit of tuning qam versus remap? i guess for hdhome run its not an issue?

If you use the remapping technique, GBPVR will only find the channels you have mapped in the HDHomeRun setup but you will be limited to 69 channels and you will not be able to use the multirecord function.

thank you for the help, your tools worked well! all of my channels though have an asterisk (*), and most of them were unviewable. but at least now i know why my multirecord function never worked!

What version of GBPVR are you using? 1.3.11 has some patches rolled into it that solved that issue for me.

Hmm.. I'm having a problem scanning channels in config. The program scan starts, then config disappears, no error, no bad stuff in the log, nothing. I've posted this problem in another thread here.

I can scan for channels successfully in WinTV, and notice they store their mapping data in C:\Program Files\WinTV\hcwChanDB_5.mdb. Is there an easy way to translate those mappings into a gbpvr friendly format?

I looked into this previously but the only reliable info that I could get was the physical channel number. On my scans, the WinTV database reports a frequency of "-1" for every channel. It also doesn't contain any program number (minor channel) or PID information so I can't produce a complete tuning string.

I'm hopeful that the new WinTV 7 will work better in this regard. It's not yet working for all their tuners but I can get it to work with analog with my 2250. It looks to be a step up from the very weak v6.

I've been able to leverage the WinTV 6 scan to create a valid qam.ini file that seems to work ok in GBPVR channel scan.

I ran this query against the hcwChanDB_5.mdb (in WinTV dir) to create a list of valid frequencies from the WinTV scan

Ran the config program, and it worked perfectly, no crashes. All channels found that had an * as part of the name tuned to a viewable channel (118 in my case), very few un-mappable entries.

So, how would an high level, no programming experienced idiot like me take the mdb file I just got in WinTV and make my own qam.ini file? Better yet, if my 2250 works fine in XP and scans just great in GBPVR, how can I use the BDA migration tool to take into GBPVR in Vista and/or W7?
