OK, I'm back to breaking things...

I just installed 34455 to a new directory and ran into a problem (I thought was previously fixed). When I launched Ultra I received an error about reading the registry. I have attached the screenshots and below is the details of the error. I'm guessing this error is related to registration of the product.

I'm on a computer that does not have GB-PVR installed. The OS is Windows XP Professional SP3. I'm set up as an admin user.

Is there anything else you need to nail down this issue?

If I click 'Continue' I'm taken in to the application. I will continue with testing and let you know what I can break.

On my system, the Label52 shows "UpdateEPG.bat is enabled". It could have something to do with your running on a system without GBPVR on it.

I've also wondered about the number in the lower right on the Main tab. I assume that it was a temporary display of a parameter that zehd used for his debugging and just got left in.

Season/EP Lookup
This occurs on a computer without GB-PVR installed.

When clicking the dropdown boxes for "Programme in DB" I get an error.
When I click 'Continue' the dropdown for "Programme in DB" and "Recorded Filenames in DB is greyed out but my mouse is still and hourglass (and looks like I'm still waiting for something). Ultra is still functional but the mouse pointer is misleading.

Is there any way of getting rid of the hourglass and returning it to the normal mouse pointer?

Is there a way of checking for the DB first and if DB can not be found disable any fields related to the DB?

What are the "DB" buttons beside the dropdown boxes for? What about the "Fetch" button?

Tooltips was always working, just a few things weren't written. I'll bet they were the things you wanted them for...

I've updated lots of TT on the next build.

Yes it was/is for debugging, but I left it in, and labelled it as Records per Second to give an idea how fast the computer and /or the enhancement is going.

I used it to tweak several of the features, and make them faster and faster.

Now you can use it to see if you are bogging things down after you broke something

Open Regedit

Go to key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UltraXMLTV\UltraXMLTV_Enhancer
ToolTipsDelay and Use Tool Tips should both be dword if not delete them and open Ultra again

Only three (might not have these yet, and that's OK), valuenames should be 'string'

If you have any other string values, make note of what they are, delete them, start Ultra and set it the way you want...

I'm pretty sure that I changed the value type, and there's a problem when I do that... :-)

About to release new version

Warning! Using Fix Channels (or auto fix channels) will be very similar to Fix Channels and ChangeEPGsources.bat from the wiki

[SIZE="5"]This will kill your digital source mappings.

That means do not use Fix Channels if you have ATSC,QAM,Satelite, or any other digital source that needs mapping. [/SIZE]

I'm planning on fixing thsi fix and working with the Digital stuff, but it's just not happening yet.

So IF you have straight channels without any sort of frequency mapping then:

Recently, my Cable company, changed their lineup. And so I added a 'Fix Channels' procedure to Ultra 2. Then it made me think, what if Ultra new the lineup changed and it fixed it for you while it was doing its nightly Update?

So if you have heeded the warning and want to try this, (I've tested it quite a bit and am using it on my production machine.) Here's what Auto Fix Channels does...

1. first time through, nothing. It grabs a list of channels and their names
   
   
2. After that, each time, Ultra scans the Channels in the new xmltv file, and compares to the previous list. Any difference, it's time for a Fix Channel...
   

So This is what happens in the wee hours of the morning... or when you do a manual fix channel

1. If you have an active UpdateEPG.bat it temporarily disables it. That way nothing extra happens when it does its thing
   
   
2. It backs up, the GB-PVR database, with a time stamp.
   
   
3. It exports the Recordings list and backs that up with a time stamp.
   
   
4. It clears the tables associated with Channels, Programmes, and Recordings
   
   
5. It Updates the EPG first time. This populates new channels, in correct order.
   
   
6. Re-Imports Recordings (including Recurring events) back into database
   
   
7. It updates the EPG a second time, this times, as the Recordings arte in the database, GB-PVR will now schedule the recurring events correctly
   
   
8. It re-Enabled the UpdateEPG.bat (if it was origioanlly enabled, then disabled)
   

If at night, GB-PVR calls its UpdateEPG.bat, what would happen is:

Grab, Enhance, Update

unless it needs to fix, then

Grab, Enhance, Fix, (which does that list of things), and then Update

For those of you that are keeping count, that's 1 grab, 1 enhance and three EPG updates... (except two of those Updates don't call the Grab or Enhance again as that would be cyclical)

Confused? Well that's OK. It backs up everything necessary to get GB-PVR back to where it was before th fix, and it uses many of the same proceduers I worked out for more than a year...

Click it and then forget it...
