I finally upgraded my box from a p3 to a AMD athalon 2000+. I installed windows xp sp1 fresh then strait to sp3. I installed the .net2.0sp1, vcredist_x86, and the drivers from my two huagpauge wintv 250's. next i got the remote control software installed. then last gbpvr.

I setup my cards, and added the SD chaannel sources.

I play livetv, and blam... no picture. The sound is fine. even the OSD works.

SO.. I thought that the wintv 2000 app had to be installed, so I did that. It plays tv and records live tv. no problem. then I thought about winodws media player. I installed version 10. Still no picture.

What am I missing? the logs talk about some errors but they are greek to me.

I have attached them here. can you take a look and see what you see? its probably something simple.

Thanks so much... and my kids thank you.

You probably need to install and select some other decoder then.

eww, don't install a whole codec pack of junk you'll never use, just get a good mpeg2 decoder...those codec packs can be a bear to uninstall and quite often break things in windows...[eg:vobsub]
so best off just using the decoders you need..

ffdshow is a good single all-in-one codec, does divx/xvid,mpeg2,mpeg1,h264, and man, many others...all in one decoder...Smile
i suggest beta 6 version as it works very well for me and others..
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow...081219.exe
to configure for gbpvr, set libmpeg2 for mpeg2 codec on codec page, and the output page set like picture...

Well, FFdshow is pretty much a whole codec pack, too, just in one suite. Thing is, if someone needs a good mpeg2 decoder, it's commonly held that FFdshow is not the one to use since the quality is subpar compared to others.

In general, I install CCCP pack and call it a day, except would recommend Dscaler5 or Gabest MPV for mpeg2. There are other good ones, of course, and nothing always works great for everyone.

If you're interested, there are entire threads on which mpeg2 decoder is best btw, Randy.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

mpv decoder http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm usually works ok. It's not the greatest decoder around, but it's just one or two files, installs easy, won't break anything else. you can use that to get going, then expirement with more advanced decoders knowing you have a reasonable fall-back position.
