Because I am recording something now, I can't run CONFIG to get some screen prints to include in my question so I will post them in about an hour.

I can't say for certain that they showed up in listings for Paid Programming. I just know that they seemed to pop up sometimes when there wasn't legitimate program description information. If you don't put them into the listings, does sub?

These are the ways in which you could be getting content like jokes on screen.

• The listing source has them in their original data.
  
• An Enhancer could be adjusting them (I've never done)
  
• Have you ever used I-XMLTV ( I don't know if JIM_ did))
  
• sub could be adjusting the data as it's being imported (Can't see that other's would have mentioned in the last three years that I've been on)
  
• a virus has over taken your computer. One that is XMLTV aware, and only wanted to infect Paid Programming record

LewE, on the odd chance that that doesn't work, it's obvious that your tables got messed. You could

Delete your capture sources, re-add them, point to the xmltv file, save and close. Open Ultra and UpdateEPG from there...

I'm guessing sub does it. I seem to remember somewhere there was an option to fill empty listings with Chuck Norris jokes. I'll look around ot try to find where it was.

Checked the system this morning. There was no automatic update of the XML file. WIll worry about that later.

Ran the xmltv-run.bat and then ran Ultra w/Commit. For some reason, Ultra went crazy doing fetches and updating all the entries in the xml_cache, even programs that have ended production. I was running with Logging at Medium so I STOPped Ultra, restored the XML, set Logging to Heavy and restarted.

It is now running. 11 minutes of processing and it is on record 4,000 of 26,896 so it will be a while before it completes.

Any ideas why this is happening? Is it due to having installed the latest version after wiping out the Ultra directory and restoring the cache but NOT some of the TXT files about shows?

I thought so from the search I did last night but I tried restoring the xml file and updated the EPG without Ultra doing any procesing and couldn't find any of the Chuck Norris entries in the Listings.

Did you change your approach to cache handling of series that ended? See the snapshot of my cache directory. Notice that two of the entries are dated 3/4 and the third is dated today and that apparently two of the files have pretty much the same contents.

Should I empty out my cache directory and run Ultra again to get a clean situation?

Regarding the previous error I posted...I believe I had version 2.0.3351.19245 (since deleted so I'm not positive of the version) running from C: drive without any errors.

I would suggest running from Stick would be quite worth the test. On 27000 records, after the very first check, really there's only a few fetches per day, of course on 110000 records, it would be a few more...

I decided to download the latest version at the time (2.0.3355.4266) and give it a try on the USB stick. It had errors (previously posted). I also tried this version on C: drive as well and it had the same problems as when run from the USB stick. I tried another computer to rule out the possibility of a computer specific issue. I guess it was my fault for assuming that since my previous download worked (launched without errors) that the next version would work as well.

As for the testing instructions you provided, they were basically followed other than ...

1)I was putting each version is a separate folder (usually the version number was the folder name so I could keep track of versions). Maybe this was causing a problem. I not sure why the folder name/location would make a difference if I was not using any of the troubleshooting buttons. The only task I was doing was trying to test was the enhancing (using the Go button on the Main tab).

2)There is the possibility the I may have not run the "RemoveSettings.reg" file after downloading each new version.

3)I was copying the XML_Cache from one folder to another.
From now on I will stick to the directory structure that you have suggested and will not deviate from it. I will also try to follow your testing instructions.

So here are my ideas with using a stick

I have it working here.
Step one: Make Ultra works on your C drive at work. Copy entire EPG directory to USB Stick.

Step two: Stop using your C Drive at work. Forever!

Do you want my testing of each new download done on the C: drive, USB stick or do I need to test on both C: drive and then the USB stick before I report any issues?
