One more thought.

I know I asked for this before but if you think users would be using the UPdate EPG function on the TS tab, please reconsider and add to the status line a counter like you do for Enhancing. This would provide the user with feedback that something is actually happening and an idea of how much longer it will take rather than them wondering whether the program just locked up.

I assume that when an Update EPG is performed you go through the records in the xmltv.xml file so a simialr counter shouldn't be too difficult to add.

Actually it isn't easy, if not impossible. When I call Update EPG it tells GB-PVR to import the xmltv file. All I can do is sit and wait for the process (which I do watch after starting it). That means that if GB-PVR locks up during update (and yes that does happen) , my program will just wait and wait.

When you Enhance with commit from that tab, you're actually iterating records, and that's how I can get a progress...

OK. That explains why you weren't able to do it when I asked before.

How about just putting a bar that goes from left to right and then starts over again in the status area? This would be an indication that Ultra is alive. Or, do you not get processing time while GBPVR is importing the EPG update?

That's why I have a clock in the bottom right. To show if Ultra is stuck or not...

Error when running Ultra.

I guessing that this occurred because there was no internet connection present.

Attached is the screenshot and here are the details.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

May I ask that we NOT include the text of the error and screenshots in the messages. They get really long, and I don't read them. (Sometimes it helps, but maybe only 3 times since we started this. If you want, hold on to them in case I ask, but I probably won't. )

You probably tipped it off from the beginning. No internet connection?

K what's the particulars. You have told me you have a fast net in the office and dial up on the homestead.

Where were you? Was it that proxy crap that basically firewalled Ultra?

I just deleted the episode.xml and _seriesID.text entry for 24.

Then I unplugged my machine from the net, and ran Ultra.

When it got to 24, it timed-out trying to get the Series ID, Tried to load an 24.episode.xml (which didn't exist) and then resumed.

I believe the error you received was because there was 'some' data on your computer, and it didn't jive...

Please find the show that the error happened on, delete reference to it as an ..episode.xml and a entry in _SeriesID.txt entry... and then see if ultra gets any further.

I will add in some code that checks for connectivity, and disallows any fetching, but really, my test shows that it's already doing that. I'd love to find out what other factors are at play...

I'm at home with my slow connection (no proxy here). I thought I was connect to the internet (dial up) but after I got the error I noticed I wasn't connected. I'm running Ultra from a USB stick - the same as I do from work.

I'm running through now with the dial up connection connected and have gotten further through the process without the error. I realize that most people would not come across this but it is still better to trap error than having the unhandled exception message. I only attached the screenshot and details because you had ask for it a previous time. I'll try to resist in the future.

Normally I do not run Ultra from home unless I really need to. When I update the EPG in GBPVR today (the same as I do most days), I ended up with double the nubmer of channels and half were screwed up. I emptied my EPG and tried to update the EPG again and still had the same problem. So I thought I would try running Ultra again and then do another update.

Channel 214 has the channel displayed correct bu there is no show data.
Channel 1152 has the channel messed up but I think the shows are correct.

Have you seen this before?
Any suggestions on how to correct?

[quote=zehd]...Then I unplugged my machine from the net, and ran Ultra....QUOTE]

When you unplug do you still have an IP address and is the aTCPIP protocal still loaded? You still have a network it just you have no connectivity.

With dial up TCPIP is not loaded until you start a conection. There is no network set up.

This may be the factor you are looking for.

Also it errored out when it tried to do it's first fetch.
