I don't understand why I'm gettting such a different in size of the enhanced file.
I deleted _tagSetttings.xml and launched Ultra. I went to the Tag tab and selected Zehd's Picks. I then moved SubiTitle and description (as indicated in the wiki 0 I always do this for consistency sake). I then started the enhancing.

Original file size - 101 MB
Enhanced file size- 82.1 MB

What could be causing my enhanced file to be so different than yours?

Maybe delete both tag and title files when resetting. I believe we are getting different downloads. I have set up mc2xml to get everything from your postal code and BEV East. I don't use the include/exclude files.. That's what I start with originally...

BTW. There are some registry settings that are persistent through a reset unless of course you use RemoveSettings.reg.

Is the 'Exclude Catgeories' checked on main tab?

Do you have at least the four default entries in the Exclude Catgories (News, Game Shows, Talk Shows, Soap Operas.)?

Although the 'Auto' feature is working great, you should make sure once the enhance is in progress, that 'mc2xml' is selected for the New Show Detection

Downloaded new XML file getting everything for my postal code for BEV East.
Deleted _TagSettings.xml and _TitleSettings.xml. I didn't use any include/exclude files.
Ran RemoveSettings.reg.
Launched Ultra.
Verified Skipped Categories was checked.
Check which categories were skipped (Game Show, News, Soap Opera, Talk Show).
Checked New Show Detection method and it was set to 'Auto'.
Started enhancement process.
After about 1000 records, I checked the New Show Detection method and it was 'mc2xml' as it should be.

XML start size - 101 MB
XML finish size - 82 MB

Below is my log file. But I doubt it will show anything.

Any other ideas on why the enhanced file is smaller than what you are getting?

The only other thing I can think of trying is to delete everything and start from scratch but I'm not sure it that would be any different than what we have done so far other than the cache folder.

P.S. This has happened on both of my PCs (home and work). Both run from the USB stick.

I can't say. You're doing everything that I'm doing. I know that it sounds that you're missing a significant amount of data but other than the size discrepancy, have you been unsatisfied with the output?

Other than the size difference I haven't noticed anything. But I'm not necessarily an observant person. Big Grin

Is it possible to send me a copy of the original and enhanced XML file from your tests? Then I will do an enhancement on my end and do a comparison between the 2 outputs. Is so I'll PM you my address.

Let's not worry about it. I just ran your settings, with a complete reset of of my settings. Following my own direc5tions to you (yahooo)

On a 100 meg file, I got an 81 meg output.

I've checked the data and it looks fine. I knew all along that I was cleaning up the xml as I went, Don't know why I was getting larger files before...

Well I feel better knowign that you're getting the same file size as I am.
If we are adding additional information to each program, why would the size be decreasign? Is there that much extra info (garbage) being removed?

I've done some minor fixes, but more drastically, I've changed the format of cache files...

Now all episode xml files will be named by their IDs.

This is actually in keeping with theTVdb.com strategy. It also allows me to to skip two extra XML checks per record.

I realize that some of you, when troubleshooting, have been digging into the cache, and checking the data. Now, to know which one to open, you will need to first open the _SeriesID.txt and search there for the id.

Alternatively, you can us ethe Beta tab, SeasEp Lookup, and find your series in the top drop down and then 'open xml' at the bottom of the screen...

However, it is my hope that very very few people will be digging around in the cache.

Ultra has legacy code that will rename the old existing Episode.xml files to the new [SeriesID].xml file format. This will prevent many redundant downloads. However this will also require a fair amount of disk access, and so those on USB thumb drive will feel a pinch)

It's a one time thing, so once you've started using this version, you won't be going back...
