Absolutely. There are still a few things I need to do. But I really want to shakedown what I have and do a public release.

Downloaded version 2.0.3377.31148.
Copied all files in new zip file and overwrote all of my existing files.
Deleted _TagSettings.xml, _TitleSettings.xml, _SeriesIDs.txt, TempSeriesID.txt, and _app.log.
Ran RemoveSettings.reg.
Launched Ultra.
On the Tags tab select Zehd's Picks
On the Manual tab, configured Grabber, XML file, and logging.
Clicked 'Go'

After merging series ids I get the same error.

I then restarted my computer and launched Ultra again and had the same error.

What can I do to help you or provide you with more information to get past this problem?

I read that you only overwrote everything from the zip...

Have you tried empty the entire folder? The strings error that you are getting is because it's stuck reading a text file that you still have in place. I suspect it's one of the Channel files.

That's why I named everything with underscores, so I can say, remove all underscore files...

Start Ultra, do Zehd-sPicks (forget about RemoveSettings), find you xmltv file (download a new one if you can) and click go. Then zip and send the _app.log

While you're frantically trying to fix my problem with Ultra not running for me...
I thought I would mention a problem I had last night at home after running Ultra.

After successfully running Ultra last night I decided to "Start Update EPG". After completion I went to check my set recordings and noticed they were all messed up. The start and end times were all wrong.

For my 24 records the start and end times are all set to...

<startTime>0001-01-01 00:00:00</startTime>
<endTime>0001-01-01 00:00:00</endTime>

I have attached the recording-dump.xml that Ultra produced for your referrence.

The records were properly set up prior to running the enhance and update.

I had previously ran the update from Ultra before without issues. But now it seems to have messed things up.

Ultra does not do anything differently when you click Upgate EPG then when it calls the UpdateEPG.bat and updates automatically.

It does not create a RecordingDump.xml (GB-PVR does that all the time) (also you didn't attach that file)

Unfortunately, when it tried to do its normal daily run from UPdateEPG.bat, when I looked at it this morning I found this message and there were no entries n the Applog after those above but that is probably because I didn't have Write Immediately checked.

Obviously, this is related ot the difference between using a shortcut to run Ultra manually and using the BAT files to run it. WHat is different from previously when I didn't have problems running Ultra daily with the BAT files?

I'd suggest that all beta testing be done with Write Immediatley enabled.

This trap is exactly what it says, and it happens before Ultra can log anything. It happens in the first few lines of code, and I specifically made it a popup so there is a halt and people would be awakened with it...

'Write2log immediately' ONLY helps when the enhance has started and logging each show as they are processed.

I'm pretty sure I know the problem though, and the latest version (posting in mere minutes) will fix it...

I've attached a couple of logs: 1 log from earlier this morning when I had the problem (logging level - Nuts) and one (logging level - Medium) after the problem was corrected (yes, it now works! thanks to your suggestion of deleting all "_" files - I was headed here as well but got interrupted). Please not that I did not let Ultra enhance the complete file. Once it started enhancing I stop it just to keep the log file short.

I've also attached the offending file. What I did was just delete the "_Channel*.txt" files. This fixed the problem. Just possible 1 more step to add to an upgrade (if there are any problem). I'm just glad the cause was found. I don't know if this is something you could trap or not but the file is attached for your reference.

That's a file path, that has had the slashes replaces with dashes....! And maybe something like the drive letter changed or something.

Guys, promise me you won't go Nuts unless you are hunting for a problematic record, After Enhancing is already started...

Just look at you logs. The log level is the number at the beginning of the message. The only log entries that will be a 4 are the Records as they iterate.

That means that I would not get any more information from a Heavy or a Nuts log.

And writing to file immediately will only benefit tracking down an offending record.

All this means that if Ultra ain't getting through to the line:

I have the log level set to Medium by default. Only things that should be noted are reported. Heavy, let's me track down more steps in the process

The only reason I mention this, I'm a conservationist, and it kills me to know your computer is drawing more electricity to process those extra log entries, not to mention the extra wear and tear on your hard drive...

I think next update I'm going to play it safe and just reformat the whole computer. Maybe I won't have any problems. Who knows...it might be easier.

From my experience, the problem is usually the interface between the keyboard and chair. I guess I'm falling into that category now.

Only time it's set to Nuts is when I'm frustrated trying to get more details about a problem. Otherwise Medium is more than enough for me.
