Can we be greedy and have a choice at run/configure time to pick a format? The format you use currently cleverly sidesteps the variations between countries of MM/DD/YYYY vs DD/MM/YYYY or the programmers' favorite YYYY/MM/DD. Since you have a set of users from many countries, I don't think you can pick one size to fit all. The format you currently use is the only one that wouldn't cause confusion to the users (e.g. Is 7/5/2009 identifying the date July 5, or May 7?).

I find the day of week (e.g. Wednesday) to be completely superfluous.

Are you referring to the S. [Snum] Ep. [EpNum] : type formatting requested by Graham? I can't get too excited about this variation so I pass on voting on this.

I'd still like to see the ability to display Season/Episode based on a priority list of what is available for the program like I described in my message # 459. It doesn't seem too difficult to implement (this coming from someone who will not have to actually code it up ).

I'd like to request a new feature for Ultra.

I had been experimenting with the Tags and wanted to have it show the SeasEpNum (e.g. S02E05) after the Subtitle so I could see it in the list of recorded programs.

I found that it wasn't showing up too often.

I looked further and found that EpOnScreen (e.g.107) and EpNum (a number only a computer or Librarian - think Dewey Decimal System - could like) seem to be populated by Schedules Direct far more often than SeasEpNum is.

This starts to get messy but, is there a way we could designate an EPISODE tag which ends up being based on a priority list of the three tags (where the user could set the priority order). Ultra would stuff this field with the highest priority episode variation that is available. Ideally, this would be a new TAG in addition to the ones you already let the user choose between.

I didn't realize that you already had a superceding check in your logic. What I had done was select just one of them to put into the Subtitle. It wasn't showing all that often.

It sounds like you already do what I wanted. Nice anticipation. Sort of a programming version of the "Minority Report" movie. :eek:

I'll change my Tag defs and see how it does.

These special cases you handle (like the episode tags and the date tags) need to be documented in the wiki (assuming thay aren't there already).

Maybe add a Special Note in the section where you describe the tags for how you handle these special cases unlike the other tags where you just put the information in the listing where the user indicates and use the formatting chosen by the user.

I think I have gotten to the point where I need to understand some areeas of Ultra that I have avoided asking about before.

First, I'm talking about the entries on the bottom half of the Misc tab. What are these and how are they used?

Second, I don't understand the section between the Title and Subtitle in the TAG page. It's the section in the example that starts with (Series, Idiodic... What is this section and can we control it?

Third, in my enhanced listing, appended to the Title are a bunch of stuff I didn't request in the TAG setup (at least intentionally). See this listing for an example. It's the "Drama, Paranormal, Stereo..." stuff in the second screen cap. I am interested in having some of this information but not appended to the subtitle.

This version still misses marking the April 3 show at 8:00pm on NBC (Howie Do It) as being a first run show even though it displays a date record of April 3 in the enhanced listing.

At this point Ultra has already done the hard part, i.e. determined the original air date and knows the current air date. Why does it fail to recognize that this is a first run show?

The good news is that in two more days this defiant listing will go away because it will be April 4.

I fixed the new show for Howie, though quite begrudgingly... I had code that would skip over shows that did not have a sub_title or a description. Basically any show that did not bother to write a description, isn't worth an asterisk.

You've bugged me about this before, for talk show and new shows, and I wasn't really going to do anything about it. But my Exclude Categories is working so whatever...

I will bet that the reason you are having trouble with the concept of the fields, and how tags are moved around in the fields is because you consistently look at the data in TV Listings, and with non default skins to boot. No wonder the data looks all screwy for you.

Therefore I will not explain anything other than look at this screen shot and use TV Guide and remember back to Ultra 1 days...

BTW, I really hate the word Episodic with shows that are "series, sitcoms, etc" It's almost idiotic...
