For those of you receiving OTA ATSC in So Cal, a new channel just went live. ThisTV is broadcasting on a sub-channel of KTLA-DT, virtual channel 5.2 (UHF 31).

Schedules Direct doesn't have listing for it on KTLADT2 yet, but a little quick research lead me to the Sacramento KQCA affiliate broadcasting ThisTV on their KQCADT2. This guide data will be correct, since there's only one ThisTV feed and it's in the same time zone. So I added a lineup for zip code 95814 on Schedules direct, and selected just KQCADT2.

In gb-pvr config I just updated my epg on both tuners to get the new channel into the list, temporarily edited my bda/atsc/all.ini to just include UHF 31 (so I wouldn't have to wait for a full channel scan), and quickly scanned and mapped in the new channel. Finally I assigned the new channel #6 (since nothing was using 6, and that puts it in my main channel group).

For those using MC2XML with the TitanTV service (-t), I didn't find a channel for ThisTV in either my zip or sacramento (they only had KQCADT1), so you'll have to look for another ThisTV affiliate in the pacific time zone, or switch to Schedules Direct (for ATSC, it really is better).

KTLA's web site still says they're in engineering testing on ThisTV with no firm launch date, but as of Thursday at 10pm or so it is live.

If you haven't heard about ThisTV yet, they show semi-modern classic films (Electra Glide in Blue was on when I noticed it was live, and now Midnight Cowboy is showing), padded with classic TV shows (I've noticed Patty Duke and Mister Ed in the guide so far), along with the mandatory E/I shows (Paddington Bear, Animal Crackers). It's all new stuff, even the E/I shows aren't the same as what the PBS affiliates show.

Enjoy!

For the sake of completeness, I can now report that Schedules Direct has added KTLADT2 to their antenna lineup for so cal. I haven't switched it in my config yet, but will do so over the weekend.

Good work...

So if I understand this correctly, you needed to setup and download a Different EPG, with just one channel, and then map that to the ATSC channel you now pick up?

(And that the EPG data just updated making your action unnecessary)

Thanks for that. I'm looking at a way to make mapping a little easier, but I only have one ATSC channel so far in my city, and it's duplicated from an analog listing already in my EPG...

I noticed this station a while back here in Houston, Tx as it used to be the sub station of channel 2 (2.2) that showed weather all the time. It started showing some regular programs so I changed the channel icon in my channel logos directory and didn't have to do much else from there. Schedules direct is definately the way to go if you are using local ATSC broadcasts.

It shows up in the donator test version of mc2xml using the new service as "5.2 KTLADT2".

You understand correctly. I e-mailed Schedules Direct after I made my original post, and let them know about the new channel. They responded that they submitted the channel addition to tribune media servers (where the data actually comes from - schedules direct is really just an access portal).

The ability to add multiple lineups on schedules direct, and then choose which channels from each lineup end up in your download is quite handy. This sort of thing would be a lot harder (though certainly still doable) with MC2XML.

Yes, the new Windows 7 listing service from Microsoft appears much more complete. The legacy MS service doesn't have ATSC listings, and the TitanTV service blows.
