First ION based PC announced

Acer Aspire Revo.

Wonder if these could be better "clients" for GBPVR than maybe even the PCH, i.e. closer in size to an extender like the PCH and also the flexibility of a PC with enough power to run 1080p content.

Issues I see for my own needs with this particular ION PC is lack of SPDIF, component video outputs as were demo'ed in Nvidia's reference box since my receiver and TV do not have HDMI, plus the single core Atom versus the dual core from the reference design.

I'm looking forward to the reviews. There is certainly a lot of buzz about these on all the HTPC sites that need a PC client and I think there will be many adopters. Since the hardware itself is certainly not any better than low-mid range PC's that HTPC people buy now the evolution is size and price and not performance. For me it could come down to whether Microsoft continues to reduce cost of the O/S and since they say Vista/Win 7 I am doubting this. If these are $300 it's a definite consideration, but if it's much more, with a $149 NMT available now, I probably will wait a year.

I'll probably buy me one - mainly because I like toys. I'll sneak it into the house when the wife isnt looking. The hardware acceleration is capable of our H.264 video used on DVB-T channels, so it should capable of being a decent client. I dont know if I'll really end up using it for that though.

I'm still waiting for Syabas to add HE-AAC audio support. This could be a decent client in the meantime....

Too bad i just bought all the parts to my new client, The size and performance of the ION should be great for a client and i would probably spend the extra for one over the NMT as i am not that happy with the NMT's performance when it comes to ts streams and feel this would be a better way to go

yeah, tried that too with our hdtv. sadly, couldn't explain how the crt shrinked so much, so the wife got suspecious in the end

anyone got some better subterfuge to ordering a cam? smuggling it inside is not an option, won't explain the associated dent in our savings...
i'm taking some glances at the soon-to-be-delivered Panasonic GH1 hybrid & need some way to get budget approval, something along the line "honey, imagine how wonderfull it would be to have very nice stills & fullHD recordings of our kids playing... & how much we'd regret if we don't buy that cam now..." (kids already available, no delay to be feared here )
