I can use GB-PVR fine on the server to make recordings and I can play these back on the MVP Client and use the TV Guide etc.

But when I try to run live TV from the client - it enters setup mode and tries to contact the server without success.

Eventually it says failed to locate GUI Service...

Tried several times but cant get it to work. Could see anything helpful in the logs. Firewall is disabled.

Quite a low-spec machine - only 1GB memory perhaps this is not enough to run the TV card, and GB-MVP - any thoughts?

Check to see if the folder c:\temp is on your hard disk, that is where livetv files are stored. If not, and if creating it doesn't fix the problem, compress and upload your GBPVR logs.

Thanks for the reply - I think the location is defined in the Directories tab of the config and mine is set to c:\

In any case it works fine when I run it from the server using PVRX2.
Also noticed this
Trans2MVP.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

and in the logs....

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\MVP000DFE0BB1062.mpg'.

It is much easier to help if you upload the logs.

The problems is you can't play dvr-ms files as live tv. In fact playing a digital broadcast with any mux is challenging, you might be able to use a ts stream with mvpmc but don't be too optimistic.

Thanks Martin but I don't really understand your reply - all I'm trying to do is use my nova-t-500 with gvpvr. Thanks for the diagnosis - any ideas what I need to do?

I'm assuming that it is actually possible to watch live tv through mvp using gbpvr - presumably someone out there has managed it.

The multiplexer you use determines the file type that gets created. The MVP pretty much needs .mpg files, which means using the Cyberlink or ATI mux.

Thanks

I changed the BDA Mux in the config to Cyberlink which according to Dec Check I do have. Mux Checker also concurs (see screenshot)

Show Status now shows the recording status starting and creating an MPG file but it stops straight away.

Wondering if the MUX version I have is a bit old and if so where can I get a newer version!

Logs attached....
