UltraXMLTV Enhancer Version 2 - rc1

If a new SeriesName or SeriesID is found should it not be uploading the SeriesID files?
I have "auto upload when done" selected and there were 32 New Series IDs (725 No Date and 7 Series IDs). I have logging set to Light.
Does it not show the upload of the SeriesID file in the log if logging is set to light? Or was the upload skipped for some reason?

The log event is shown in Medium and higher.

Ultra will only upload if
AutoUpload = True
NewSeriesID > 0
FailedFetches = 0

That means that if there is even one failure, nothing is uploaded..

Failed fetches only occur when: contact could not be made with a server, or the resulting xml file is corrupt. There is no log entry to count failed fetches, and I don't really care about that right now.

cool, just wondered what directions things were goin in...

really the only thing that bothered me was the "." part, i kept reading the year into the titles and not recognizing them as quickly..but the brackets do the job nicely...
[i find it easier to visually skip the brackets than the .name kind]

i'll try the date thing as it sounds like just what i wanted anyways..thanx
EDIT: hmmm, i already had it there and no dates show up for movies in description, only in title..

I have removed Previously-shown from user interface.
** I've tried to make it compatible with those of you that will not reset their underscore files. You will see an entry for the Previosuly-shown tag, but it will not be used. You can clean it out by resetting the underscore files...

Now, the date can be added to sub_title, Description or Extra Desc *. The date is either the actual date tag from the xmltv file, previously-shown tag, or the year tag from movies.

The Specific tag for Year will only be used to format how it looks in a Movie title. When the year is used as a 'date' it will use the formatting from 'date'...

really lookin sharp now, all the 'new' shows are showing w/mc2xml option, updates are working fine, and i like the bullets you included for actors,etc..

btw, you have 'game show' in there twice in excludes...:eek:

The sample exclude file has similar excludes for mc2xml and SD. You can drop down the list and see what categories you actually have in your xmltv files, and then remove the ones you don't need...

ahh, perfection.... dates showing properly, and all in right places...
even played with the date formatting a bit freehand and it works fine..
[using MMM-dd-yy right now]

thanx a bunch for the changes..really looks sweet now..
playing with the epg always worries me a bit as it can really bugger things up if it isn't working well..
now back to enjoying some nicely formatted content...

First off, I'd like to say a big thank you for this fantastic app. I just began a tryout period with GBPVR and this makes everything so much better. I may even be using it if I switch to MediaPortal (looking more likely so I can get HD clients working).

My question is concerning the Season/Episode tagging. I've noticed a few of my big shows are a bit odd. 24 and Bones are using the (see) method eg (719) = season 7, episode 19, while Scrubs doesn't have any Season/Episode info at all. I'm currently using mc2xml as the xmltv info grabber.

Is there anything that can be done by you or by the community to aid in this?

'24' is a good example of a show that just doesn't work with Ultra. It's naming convention has been difficult for me, and it seems to be a one-off, so I have left it. Unfortunately, many Ultra users are '24' fans... :eek:

It is a pure coincidence that 24's production code (EpOnScreen) looks like it is a season ep num. Fox is using that. There are many other shows where the EpOnScreen number doesn't make much sense...

It should also be noted that 'theTVdb.com' is fan written, and so some information is late...

The short answer is: Of course there's room for improvement, but some of my magic relies on others, and that's not always consistent...

Regarding the EPG update. Have you worked with Mediaportal at all? I may be giving it a go this weekend and wondered if the same problem exists in the EPG update functionality used there.

I plan to use mc2xml to grab the data and Ultra to enhance it before letting Mediaportal look at it.

I was doing some playing around today and got an error.

What I did was I was running Ultra with commit and had all of the default settings other than I selected "Try no data again" on the Cache tab.

The error message was...

The status bar in Ultra had this message "Moving 'New' in place..."

This seem to happen at the end of the enhancing but I wasn't paying attention. I'll try to replicate.

I just tried again and the error does occur while it's rewriting/renaming the enhanced file. The last entry in the log file (with Write immediately checked) is ...
