Dave

The latest is on the wiki for Release Candidate 1 (rc1)

XMLTV with SD creates a perfectly valid xmltv file that Ultra is desgined to deal with. THere is currently no code in Ultra Version 1 that 'fixes codepage', nor would it need to fix the codepage with a valid xmltv file from xmltv-sd...

So basically, I don't know what is happening on your system differently from mine and other SD setups...

Where would it fit into the manual process? Before or after UpdateEPG? Before or after TVListings/XmltvExtras?

Fix Channels will alwasy be needed so long as TV providers change their lineups.

Ultra automatically deals with listings changes and runs 'Fix Channels' the night of a listing lineups change.

If something happens and the lineup changes, but Ultra can't roll with it, a person would need to manually 'Fix Channels' Currently the function is in Beta, because it's something that I don't want to deal with in the Release Candidate phase.

Was it Ultra1 or Ultra2? There are on two separate pages on the wiki. Here is the link for Ultra2. If you're using Ultra1 I suggest you upgrade to Ultra2

Zehd's Edit: I've merged the pages, and updated this link....

In my situation I can not script Ultra since I run Ultra on a PC without GB-PVR. At at later time I manually click on UpdateEPG and TVListings/XmltvExtras once I'm connect to a PC with GB-PVR installed. Since there is no indication in the GUI on whether or not I need to run Fix Channels or not I have to look at the log file each day. If Fix Channels is needed (it is indicated in the log file) then I need to manually run it.

I'm just trying to figure out at what point do I need to manually run the 'Fix Channels" function.

Before I manually run UpdateEPG? Or before I manually run TVListings/XmltvExtras? Or after TVListings/XmltvExtras has ran?

I know my situation may be unique but I need to manually run Ultra.

Thanks for you suggestions on when I need to manually run this step.

Fix Channels includes two EPG Updates.

So Download, Enhance with Commit and then Fix Channels.

If I were in your situation, I would not worry about Fixing channels on a daily basis. Wait til you are missing some channels, then fix them...

I suspect the reason you are unable to automate your setup at home is you are still having trouble with enhancing at home because of the dial up.

Just so you know, the best way to test for your situation is nothing more than start Ultra and click 'Is TVDB online?' Cause if that's false, you're SOL on the whole shooting match.

I suspect that the setup is timing out too fast for your setup. I'll make a place for you to adjust your web time out. In the meantime, take some time and actually pare down your channels. I haven't been using your upload file, because there's just too much garbage being added and it's bloating the _seriesID.txt...

I don't plan to fix channels daily. I was thinking of just making it a habit of doing it once a week (creature of haibit) opposed to trying to remember to look through the log file every day or so. I guess the other indication would be looking in the guide to see if it's missing data.

What would be nice is if there was some indicator in the GUI that would indicate that the channels need fixing instead of just the log file or the guide.

I know I've successfully fixed channels before (at home) but I don't ever remember getting a True response from "Is theTVdb online?" at home.

I thought you had alread build in a web timeout value already on the TS tab. I have changed this value from 1500 to 6000 but still no luck. Is this not what this is for?

Your be glad to hear, I've trimmed down my channels. I've filtered down the include1.chl file Ultra produces and am try to use Ultra on the new XML file (at home) but no luck since theTVdb is offline for me. Sad

Good news, bad news. I've downloaded Ultra2 and extracted it to and empty folder following the suggestions on the wiki, ran RemoveSettings.reg, and tried to enhance Xlmtv's dd.xml file. The good news is that I didn't get a Fix PageCode message and the app ran to its end. The bad news is that the log file says it found 0 programmes in the file and the enhanced xml file is 0 bytes. The original file is 12MB so I can't post it, but here is the log file. Any ideas? Thanks.

Dave

I just checked on how small the original file would be zipped (should have done that before!) and am adding it. Sorry

The 'Before Process' file is not a xmltv file. It seems you are using the native suppport for Schedules Direct, and then trying to use Ultra to process that. That won't work for a variety of reasons.

You will need a grabber to download the xmltv listings, then enhnace it, then update (import it into GB-PVR)

I suggest using http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/Xmltv

Since I'm also the author to that wiki page, I'd be interested in finding out how you got the misunderstanding, so I can clear it up for the next guy

There is one point that I will stress again here.

xmltv is a standard TV listings format.

xmltv.exe is a program that will download xmltv listings data from many locations... The default is Schedules Direct. You will usually have a file named xmltv.xml A person could change the names of these things, but it's not mine to change and then post for the public to sort through. I just try to explain the way it is...

Release:
o Enhancer: 2.0.3394.26733
o Post: 2.0.3394.25604

Regarding the Auto Rename feature, I changed some code to both of these programs. The Post utility is still considered Beta, and only for the stoutest of hearts..

@leaded, I suspect you may be the only one (that I know of) that is trying the Post utility (thanks). I believe I know why you had the naming problem, and it should be fixed here...

I don't know if you had a chance to adjust anything regarding my timeout issue or not but it still doesn't work for me in this release.

Also a couple of the check boxes seem to have shifted a little in this release...just thought I would let you know.
