What is supposed to happen when there are changes to a program in the program guide. Here's the scenario:

-Running using a Zap2it feed for schedule data
-current day is Sunday
-Sports program is scheduled to run the following Saturday at 14:00
-set to record this sports program
-current day is not Tuesday
-same sports program changes start time to 13:00

Currently, the sports program will not only still want to start recording at 14:00, but the program guide will not have changed. I can live with that in that if it's important enough, I will usually double-check anyway. Lets face it, Zap2it isn't perfect either. I often also include lots of padding around the program, especially if it's a live program.

Is there any way to force GB-PVR to completely rebuild the program guide on an update? This would fix the guide program but I'm not sure what it would do to the scheduled recordings if things change.

Now this isn't a complaint, I'm just more trying to wrap my head around how it should behave. Quite honestly, considering the price of this fabulous software, I'm quite willing to put up with just about anything. I guess it's just a matter of knowing about it.

Cheers,

Yes this is a problem for us as well this side of the pond. Once its in the guide it cannot be removed. Sub recomends downloading 1 day at a time. I had a problem with TBA's in the epg. I got round that by emptying the epg and updating it twice a day. If the show is shifted in time you get 2 entry's for the same show.

Sorry, it just doesnt handle this situation as there isnt a nice universal way that I can do it that'll work for everyone.

You can manually for the EPG to be refreshed using the 'Empty EPG' followed by 'Update EPG'.

As mentioned, emptying/updating the EPG (use command-line options -OnlyEmptyEPG and -OnlyUpdateEPG) will clear out programmes entered as "To Be Announced" and will also work for a programme replacement. You are right, however, that it won't fix any programme which is marked as being scheduled to record - this information is held in a separate table in the database linked to the EPG table and these linked entries don't get removed when using -OnlyEmptyEPG.

In the case of reoccuring recordings (i.e, Season Recordings), the new entry for the rescheduled programme will be entered as scheduled to record but the old entry will also remain. In the case of a Record Once recording, the old slot remains as scheduled to record but the new slot won't get scheduled automatically.

I'm working on an EPG 'cleaning' utility to sort out rescheduled episodes in season recordings and MAY (if I don't get side-tracked onto something else) try to extend this to perform integrity checking on one-off recordings by parsing my XMLTV file to try to identify any rescheduling. It's possible this might work with a Zap2It EPG source file if it has a human-readable format.
