I don't like the options "Exit or Cancel" when looking at the pending recordings. For me "cancel" on a dialog box means
"never mind, take me back" but this time it means "Delete
pending recording".

I rather have Exit and Delete in this dialog window.

Just as a side point, since the translations are done on a word to word basis, in swedish I get the choice of "Shutdown" or "Abort", abort being delete the recording :-)

In terms of usability, the buttons should probably say

CANCEL and STOP, since CANCEL normally means close the popup without doing anything as you have pointed out, and shouldn't really be used for "Cancelling the record) however exit means quit the program usually, so

CANCEL to close the POPUP and
STOP to Stop the record would make more sense.

Well, stop is good if you are talking about a recording that is currently going on. I talked about removing future recordings that have not yet begun. So that's why I proposed delete...

STOP or DELETE doesn't matter, you can't delet something that hasn't been recorded anymore than you can stop it, so they both have the same problem of understanding, but by STOP I meant STOP the scheduled record.

It just comes down to understanding it, CANCEL is just as valid for a schedule as STOP or DELETE at the end of the day, just more "normal" to use CANCEL to close a window without doing anything.

in conclusion sub should probably leave it as it is, as the alternatives offer just as much confusion, would be better to make the labels editable in the skin

Contexts are mixed here and cancel is a 'keyword' that has already been declared by default in the world of user interfaces. So it is not a good title for a button when it applies to an action beyond the UI, it seems.

I don't think there is a rule in the UI world about having only one word on a button - so would "cancel recording" and "exit" make sense?

I about lost one last night also...
I like something like "delete recording" and "exit" or "cancel"
that way at least the delete recording cannot be misconstrued as meaning something else

but really we just got to remember to right-click and we'll go right back to where we want Smile

I think we need to use "back" in this context.
